A lot of what you're describing in the first half of the post is legacy companies (Web2 & traditionally top-down structured banks) desperately trying to get involved in Web3 in ways that maintain their control. Thus demonstrating that they totally don't understand what is changing, but feeling threatened by it even so.
A more interesting question to my mind is; if AI exists in whatever metaverse (or metaverses) we end up with and has crypto wallets etc, how are we going to even know whether we're interacting with a human or an AI ? Will it even matter ?
Interesting musing. I believe that it will be difficult in the future to separate machines from humans in the internet realm in probably a few years from now.
