It's Saturday - time for my weekly #SaturdaySavers update 😁
Things are starting to look very autumnal outside, and the leaves that are left on the trees are wonderful shades of red and yellow.
Plus I've got a garden absolutely covered in fallen leaves. I'll sweep them up once it stops raining. Cherry and fig leaves go on the compost heap, but I need to try to separate out the walnut leaves and put them in the garden waste bin. Walnut leaves contain juglone, which is toxic to many other plants (nature using chemical warfare for plants to get an advantage... clever !)

Here's my table of progress for the week;
How Did The Week Go ?
I'm not going to go through everything in the table above (that would probably put most of you to sleep, lol), but below is some commentary on a couple of key points....
Hive Power
Yesterday was HPUD - Hive Power Up Day. I plonked a big chunk of my liquid HIVE into HP; 400 HP, to be exact. Although it feels like a bit of a cheat to "buy in" to get to my target, it still gets me back on track to hit it by the end of the year.
It's only 8 weeks to go now before the end of the year ! By my maths, I need to earn 38.5775 HP each week to hit my target. My earnings this week were slightly down on the previous couple, but I still earned 38.649 HP from a mix of curation and author rewards.
HBD
The HBD interest for October arrived last week; 26.951 HBD, so it's gradually crawling back to my 30 HBD a month target.
I'm well behind on my annual goal though, because the price of HIVE means that my plan to DCA into HBD each week totally stopped making sense. I'm not going to worry about it; it's just a good reminder that even stablecoins are impacted by the extreme volatility of crypto.
One other factor I'm monitoring is the GBP-USD exchange rate. The new Labour government here in the UK released their annual budget last week, and it's had a negative impact on foreign exchange markets, stock markets and (most especially) gilts, as well as pushing up the relative price of gold. I'm unsure of their motivation, or whether it's deliberate, but crashing the economy is increasing the value assets I hold like crypto that are priced in US dollars.
Posting
I got me a badge ! Yay ! For only the second time since I've been on Hive I managed to post every day in October, and got myself a Monthly Author badge in Hivebuzz.
Posting more often has definitely had a beneficial effect on earnings. I'm hoping to keep the streak going as long as I can, but at the same time I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself if I can't. Maintaining the quality of posts is just as important (if not more so) that just quantity of posts.
So that was my week (and month) - they worked out pretty good ! I hope yours has been as much fun 😀
If you're not familiar with SaturdaySavers, it's a fabulous initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account, where we all support each other in getting to our savings goals.
If you are one of my friends reading this (or just someone who tripped over one of my posts), I really recommend this as a great community that's well worth joining.
I'm normally very disorganised about saving, and the support of the wonderful people in #SaturdaySavers has been invaluable in keeping me focused. I can honestly say that without it, my HP would probably be half what it is now.
So join ! You don't have to wait until the start of the year. The best time to start saving is ten years ago. The second best time is right now !
