Comments from People on Reddit about Microsoft Aquiring Discord:

I don't know if people realize, Discord is struggling financially. They've been looking for a buyout for a while. Additionally, would you rather Google (who's killed way more things than MS) or Amazon acquire Discord? What about Sony? Like, there are way worse options than Microsoft. To be completely honest, if Xbox takes control, there really is nothing to worry about.

So please, chill with RIP Discord. Cause it's entirely possible that without Microsoft, we may have to legitimately say RIP Discord anyways.

There are lots of bad takes in hear about discord becoming the next skype. Skype was acquired by Microsoft in 2011 when Steve Ballmer was still CEO. Since 2014 they have been run by Satya Nadella who has a much better track record. Windows 10, Edge based on Chromium, Github, Universal Windows Platform for gaming, bought ZeniMax, Arkane Studios, Bethesda Softworks, id Software.

Microsoft makes the Xbox. They make Video Games. They are not going to merge discord into Excel.

At the end, Discord reportedly reached out to Microsoft to gauge interest in a deal. Discord raised $100 million U.S. at a $7-billion U.S. valuation last year, according to Pitchbook.

And I thought Discord was private - if Micro buy it, that will be over. No private comms any more when the big tech big brother get involved.
