Good morning to everyone , I have been running engagement project for over a month now and I am happy with how it is going so far .
Many of you might already know that engagement is important for any tribe here on Hive .
Today we shall look at 4 tribes - LEO , CTP , SPORTS and STEM to see how many users are getting rewards and how many comments are getting upvoted and how much you can earn on an average engaging with others .
Engagement = Earnings
Note: The data below is for the period - 9th March to 15th March - so the earnings will be from 16th March to 22nd March
Note 2: All the author rewards for comments are considered and posts are removed

Well in the above 4 CTP and SPORTS tends to do well because 1 in 2 comments gets upvoted in SPORTS and CTP . But if we just consider that it won't be enough , we need to focus on earnings too .

What does this tell us ?
Total author rewards in 7 days - This is only for comments . So the comments made from 9th March to 15th March got author rewards of 790 LEO , 839 CTP and so on .
Per Comment Average - This tells us what is the average earnings per comment ( which has been upvoted ) , non upvoted comments aren't considered here . It is 0.14 LEO means an average upvote is 0.14 LEO on a comment.
Per User Average - This tells us how much is the average author rewards for comments per User. I might have posted 3 comments , I got upvoted only on 2 so my earnings will be for 2 comments only , so it is better to take Per User Average too .
Author rewards comparison in Hive
Well although the above gives us a picture , to better understand and compare we need to convert those rewards to Hive . I won't bore you with numbers so here are the charts -
- LEO is just in another league here
- CTP and SPORTS are almost equal
- STEM might seem low but it is not since the number of comments is less in STEM .
Now this is interesting , total author rewards ( 1st Bar chart ) showed LEO 10x higher than others but here it is 2x higher why ? Because the amount of comments made on LEO is just too much when compared to others so it brings down the average comment earnings a bit but still it is 2x more .
In the 1st chart we saw STEM as just 24 Hive total author rewards but if you see here , it is next to LEO , that means there is a big opportunity for you to earn more Hive ( actually STEM ) if you post from STEM .
STEM and SPORTS are almost equal , CTP is less when compared to other 3 .
If we come to per user earnings , CTP , STEM and SPORTS are almost equal and LEO is 3x more .
Basically if you want to earn rewards , you can hop on to any tribe and engage but the important point is you have to have interest in that tribe , otherwise you won't be able to comment a lot . If you are interested and if you are willing to engage then you can earn a lot by just commenting.
Just keep engaging and put lots of efforts , you will earn the rewards . Be consistent .

It is a nice practice to reward comments. I used to do that ob Steem but saw some people try to cut corners and say things like, good post or nice picture. Perhaps they assumed I used autovoter which wouldn't recognize genuine engagement from fake activity. Haha, they were wrong! And I'm very glad more replies on Leo have been genuine.

That has decreased to a great extent over here I guess. I rarely see a "nice post" type of comment . Maybe they know they won't get upvotes for that BS .
Also manual curation is the way to go.

It's kind of amazing how LEO is fairly high on all the statistics. It shows that engagement matters and your engagement is likely to be rewarded on any of these 4 tribes. It should also extend to other tribes as well.

Yeah definitely , it took me a lot of time to extract data for these 4 tribes so I didn't add more tribes but it is highly likely all tribes pay the users well for their engagement .

Very interesting. I've noticed that my comments on LEO aren't upvoted as often as posts seems to be which I'm sure is the pattern on all other platforms.
Another interesting stat would be to look at upvotes on comments from people other than the main post author although I'm not sure that the stats can differentiate.

I see , you seem to be an outlier with respect to this stat then because I tried to search for a few people specifics and they get more upvotes ( not in terms of value , number of upvotes) on comments but there is another factor too - the more you comment the better your chances are to get upvotes.
Take sports and stem , I personally have seen upvotes for almost 1 in 2 comments .

I knew that LEO will win in terms of $ or hive value.
But i was really hopping CTP to be on 2nd place as i though there is a good engagement there.
This all depends on the current price as well as CTP is fluctuating a lot.
You are correct Harpreet . All the values in Hive is represented at the latest price of each token . Even a slight increase in them will alter the results and maybe it will take CTP to 2nd place.

Same , those are the exact ones I use . I sometimes use hustler and mancave but that doesn't give anything much .

Interesting stats you've pulled up here as usual! It does show how rewarding commenting could be, plus it puts us out there for more people to see. Of course, engaging/commenting shouldn't be made a chore but it does come easier if we are interacting with posts that resonate with us personally.

I reason for less upvotes on STEM is because of tag farming to be honest , a lot of overlapping between LEO and STEM takes place and only STEM related content gets upvoted on STEMGeeks .

I've said it before, engagement is where the compounding effect of earning tokens really shines. Yes, you can make a lot more by posting something. But, if you consistently curate on a daily basis, you will see tokens flow into your wallet every single day. Those get staked and then added to the next day, and the next, and the next. Pretty soon your votes are worth more and you're getting even more from your comments. It just takes a little effort and consistency. Nice post, again. :-)
Very well put , I guess you should take over the content part to my post , I would be happy to just get the data lol .
But on a serious note , you are right , I wish we can see engagement getting more rewarded than the posts itself ( overall author rewards ) that will make people realize the importance of engagement and it is good for platform .
