I don't know much about the mining process or the nature of the cost, however, I've digested a little bit of ETH 2.0 articles, and hopefully, it's gonna make real impact in the system because gas fees are way to high.

ETH 2.0 is good for ETH, but Power of Work will live after that, there are many coins that are becoming profitable. The problem is still the prices of GPU's.
