When it comes to software development, it can be very hard to have a good work-life balance. For someone who is also a freelancer along with a full-time job, life can be very hard, and finding a balance can be challenging. But if we do some planning, we can have this under control to some extent and life may not be that hard.
Having boundaries set
If we have good discipline when we are working and when we spend time on our personal life, then it can create a good work-life balance and we will be able to spend the right amount of time in both places. To keep the boundaries set, having a specific workplace and specific work hours helps a lot.
Taking care of the health
Commonly, usually, software developers don't care about their health properly. Only when there are any health-related problems, do they take it seriously. Some people don't care even then and get back to what they were doing earlier after the health issues are sorted. Self-care is the most important thing. We are working hard to earn money and if the hard-earned money is going to be spent again on health, then it is not going to be helpful.
Spending time with loved ones and family should be the priority and spending some time for exercise and relaxation activities is a good thing to gain perfect health.
Art of saying no
It is always very attractive to accept more work. Keeping many things in our place will only complicate things. We have to know the art of saying no. The reason is because there is a limit for every human being. We can stretch to some extent but if we stretch further more, then we might end up skipping deadlines. This is not good for our career.
Delegating the work
If there are a few things that can be delegated to others, it is the best thing to do. We may not be able to do everything even though we are capable of doing things. If we are able to delegate wisely and make use of the resources we have, then we will be able to efficiently get work done. By doing this, we will be able to gain a lot of personal time.
Set and manage goals
It is always good to have some concrete goals set and reviewed frequently. We have to keep checking the status of our goals and try to hit the deadlines properly. Planning our work very well will help us find time for both work and personal things and this will not make us get burned out of stress.
Seek help if you are in need
There can be tough situations in both work as well as personal life. Reaching out to others can help us clear a lot of congestion in our minds. Whenever we are burned out or in stress or need someone to talk to, we should have a support system available, and mostly family can help us support in some cases, even our work team can be a good place to vent out and have a good positive environment around us.

The art of saying no is a very important aspect we don’t look to as people. This doesn’t even have to be about a software developer alone but everyone needs to be able to learn it
Nice post!
Best wishes for you and all the projects you are involved in!
Software developers have to sit in front of a PC for a long time in their working life, so they should take care of their eyes and exercise daily.
Learning to say no is vital in preventing overcommitment. It's tempting to seize every opportunity that comes our way, but recognizing one’s limits is a sign of maturity.
