One of the very relevant topics for me, which I try to study and filter, is the topic of forming the crown of fruit trees, which, as a rule, is done in late autumn and early winter by gardeners.
There is also spring pruning, but winter pruning is considered the most correct, recommended by gardeners, many gardeners.
On our summer cottage there are many trees planted by my parents and these trees have grown strongly upwards and most of the harvest, which is physically impossible to collect, goes to the birds.
No, I do not want to starve the birds, but from such a quantity of cherries they will soon lose the ability to fly lol, this is just a small diet for them.
Therefore, I want to correct the crowns of the trees, transferring the harvest to the lower branches, cutting the crowns, but, as experienced gardeners say, this must be done wisely, and not just saw, cut and chop.
Some gardeners recommend a careful approach to this, while others prefer cutting to zero, almost to zero, but with strict adherence to the shape of the cut in certain places that should be recognized and determined, and then in a year, young branches with fruit buds will appear.
Maybe logic could argue with them regarding the profitability of this method, but when I see such trees, I understand that it is better to have fewer, but high-quality, than to have many problems.
Below you see photographs of two linden trees that were planted too close to each other, apparently, the one who planted them loved linden blossom tea and one tree was not enough for him.
Because the person did not form the crowns of the trees, the branches literally pierced both trees.
This is just a modest example of the need for this matter, but we'll talk about this more specifically another time, when I have more knowledge in this area.

Personally, I much prefer pruning in Winter. Otherwise you can get many new buds appearing near the tops of the old long stems in Spring (which are mostly dead).
The new "Spring Season" is simply seen as a fresh start for many Gardeners.
