Indeed, Land is Gold in the Splinterlands. Still, I am yet to see if they will sell land again in the future as if in the beginning they've said NO lately they've said MAYBE and also could put it to a vote through SPS. Voting on it would be the normal way to go, hopefully they will not take a unilateral decision.

Maybe we might see land sales in the future provided new ones won't depreciating the value of current ones. The scarcity around it plays a role in its value and we might see it in triple digit when it is eventually put into use.
