Is renting Splinterland cards a sustainable way of dealing with the collection power situation?

Well, I'm back to competing against the big boys again and this time, I'm even more prepared for the challenge ahead. I finally dipped my toes into the leasing market and got me some deals that I don't know if they are good or not, but fuck it.

The collection power situation came in and I figured I was going to be fucked but after dipping my toes into the leasing market, I'm all clear to participate in the champions league again. All it took was some investment in leasing some top tier monsters but it is yet to be known if this model is sustainable.

The total amount I've spent on leasing in my entire Splinterlands career is $4.13 and out of that amount, only one of the leases(Lord of Darkness) has completed its time with me. I spent a total of ).22 range to get that card for 14 days and to be honest, I barely even used it. If I had a corrupted pegasus, I might have used it more, but anyway I digress. Here's a breakdown of my current active leases.

They're arranged in order of the time I leased them and as you can see the two Legendary gold foils at the top of the least cost more than the entire set of cards below it. So out of the total $3.9 for renting all them cards, $2.44 goes into renting two legendary gold foils for 36days(Yodin Zaku) and Spirit of the forest.

I haven't really given it much thought but I reckon it should be profitable in the long run. I'll have to run the numbers at the end of the season/rental period. In the short run though, these rentals have at least gotten me enough collection power to participate in the big boys league.

The down side is that playing higher up the ranks will require some investment but I'm just glad that all the champion ratings require the same amount of collection power (500k+).

As I said earlier, I haven't put much thought into it but I think this might be a nice way to get yourself back into the top leagues. Unlike me that didn't give much thought to the monsters I chose, you can take out enough time to pick cards that will be both beneficial for battle and your collection power as well.

I don't think I'll be comfortable with spending over $3 of my personal fund a season on just rentals. Particularly because I've put in way more cash than I've taken. However, what I intend to do is find a way around it buy selling off enough of my rewards during the season to cater for any expense. This means that the rentals will basically pay for themselves through battles and the season rewards, while I also keep growing my deck value through reinvesting the remaining earnings on packs. So, yeah, renting is a viable option and there are many good deals you can find out there, go for it and good luck to you.

I been playing the game almost a year and I too started out renting cards to build up my collection, I now only lend but all my cards are either low levels or mid level summoners/monsters. Even with the game's new update it seems this path to growing a stronger deck is the way to go. Best of luck to your journey in Splinterlands.

Yeah this is the first time I'm ever renting. I think I've invested like $130 of my personal funds to buying packs and upgrading specific cards. Other times, I sell one gold foil, and then use the entire money raised to buy packs, rinse and repeat. It's been largely profitable since my deck value is slightly over $330 now.

You do know that you need to have the daily fee amount in your account daily right?
That fucked me over once way back

Yeah I put in like 11hive to fund the venture. I'll see how it goes at the end of the season

Okay cool! Just watch for those fees :D

I'll be interested to hear those numbers.

I did put a few of my spare cards up for rental recently thinking the market might pick up!

Be interested in hearing whether it's worth it!

I rent out 27 cards out of the 90 cards I have listed. Mostly Beta, mid level or higher and I make 0.06USD per day.

Problem is that I can't figure out how to take my money out of peakmonsters. I used to use the income to buy other cards but now I can't figure out how to do that either.

I did notice the rentals picking up some.

Hi! You just need to head over to your peakmonsters profile by placing your pointer onto your account name in your top right corner, then hit Profile. There you will find at the left side a Credits area where you can deposit Hive/HBD or withdraw Steem/SBD and HIVE/HBD. Hope that works for you. Cheers! I think you can also get there with this URL, just edit and use your account name https://peakmonsters.com/@username/profile

It's not a life changing amount is it! But better than nothing!

I guess at the worst you could get the DEC out via the Splinterlands site?

In terms of interest rate, it is a great rate - especially if you base it on the worth of the rented cards instead of the whole deck.

Yes fair point, the rate i've got on my Scale Doctor is insane.

I'm going to be tracking the value of my daily rewards and packs I open through out the season. I think that's the easiest way to do it.

Good to see you making good use of the rental system to boost your collection power. Good luck this season.

Yeah it's just an experiment anyways. If it doesn't work out, I'll just go back to battling regularly and growing my deck organically.

You recon it will be profitable? You've spent what, $5 to be able to have the pleasure of tickling the balls of greatness. And your return on investment will be a couple of useless potions, >700 dec and a few shit tier cards worth $0.01 - $0.02

The only thing SL is going to be profitable at anymore is getting a chuckle from me when idiots dump their money into the game.

I like tickling balls 🤷‍♂️

Possibly the best response I could have gotten from that comment XD Have fun out there.

Thanks bro, fingers crossed. Have a good one

That's awesome. I have to nearly double my collection power to get into those leagues. I think the highest I can currently climb is diamond leagues. Leasing may be an option for me too. I'm going to see how the new rules affect play, then figure out what direction I want to take. Currently in Gold I I'm still battling a lot of bots. Doesn't really seem like this new system fixed the bot problem.

If you lease two or three legendary gold foils, your collection power will be bumped up by 150k and that ought to bring you into Diamond 1.

I've not met that many bots or maybe they're just bots that seem like people? The most common accounts I fought against are henry-gant and cryptokayden, not sure if they're bots or not. I haven't met any of those enminers, hbk, sbk and neminers people, so that's good.

I'm going to compare the net value of my daily reward earnings across the season to the amount I spent on leasing. I'll be buying and opening packs as well, and will also add the value of the packs to my calculation. This first season is an experiment and if it works out, I'll try again with a more streamlined approach.
