Trump tends to speak in hyperbole. I don't think the intent is to lie. Just to point out that inflation has been unacceptably high recently. Whether it is the highest or not is irrelevant. Highest inflation in 40+ years is still plenty bad.

I agree that it would be nice if he spoke a little more precisely sometimes but it doesn't really change the message.
