My tiring road trip experience.

Traveling has never been a hobby for me, okay let me re-phrase, traveling by road has never been a sweet option for me, but maybe because I am traveling on the wrong Nigerian road, probably I will change my phrase if I move on to a road that is better, smooth and safer. It is so bad that, when I am going to travel back to school, I travel the day before resumption, since I cannot afford to travel by air yet and I already know that I am going to fall sick at the end of the travel experience.

Let me narrate my last travel experience with you, the journey I embarked on a few days ago, so you will understand the angle I am coming from, I left home as early as 07:00 am, I noticed the bus was half empty and the man at the garage assured that it will get filled up in no time, he said that was the fourth bus traveling that morning, I was a little relaxed with the hope that, people often patronize the motor park. I sat there until 09:00 am before another passenger came, the bus did not get filled up until 11:00 am, at this time, I thought of going back home as I do not like traveling late, but I had paid and one thing about Nigeria drivers is that they will never refund your money. After a few minutes, we started on the journey and he suddenly stopped after driving for thirty minutes, he said he would like to repair his bus.

I was beyond angry, why didn't you do that, all the while we waited for passengers I asked? He begged all of us and we had no choice but to just sit until the repair was over which took a little over an hour. We finally left the city around 01:00 pm imagine how frustrated I felt, alongside other people on the bus.
We continued with our journey and the potholes were something else, bad roads and the driver playing what I will consider horrible music, it wasn't my type of music neither was it my seatmate's.

To further worsen the situation, the bus broke down again in the middle of the journey, instead of getting angry now, I was very happy it didn't break down on a bushy path because then, we would have been a victim to armed robbers or kidnappers, we fixed the bus and continued on the journey, and for a second time, the bus broke down again, I felt like crying, I was angry and frustrated.

I got home at around 10:00 pm that day, if I had entered a standard bus, I should have arrived at my destination at 02:00 pm considering the time I left my house that morning, I was weak and tired and all through the day I didn't have anything to eat. Immediately I had a cold shower when I got home, I already started feeling sick, I was shivering and I already knew, it was that time for fever again.

This is just a short story about one of my terrible road trips to Nigeria experiences, I have read that people go on road trips for fun, but that has never happened to me before. I am still very angry about that experience, it is so annoying, and I hope that, someday soon, I will experience a more pleasant road trip.

May I ask from where to where you travelled to? Haha. That’s so poor.

And Nigerian garage conductors and drivers are all the same with the way they tell great lies.. imagine from 7 to 11. I can also relate to such occurrences well.

Sorry for the stressful trip.

From Abuja to Akure oo my brother
