Hive's Gaming Ecosystem

in LeoFinance3 days ago

Today I want to take a little bit of time and focus on Hive itself the blockchain in which I am currently writing this article! Now in my time of being here on hive for what I think is now forever lol 7-8 years about there's been a lot of games that have come, gone but also stayed!

This article will be split up into sections to try and make more sense of it all. You'll have your old school games but also new releases this year and of course coming soon of which beta games I'm going to slate under this coming soon as well since they are out in the wilds but there's really not enough activity or substance there to really attract more players yet.

THE OG's

DCity Is like that OG city builder you always wanted. Build buildings, manage civs, pay taxes, go to war etc the game offers up a lot of passive income streams while stacking up your NFT cards.

Splinterlands This is the biggest game on hive and contributed to some of the largest bull runs here. The games had some struggles but it looks like it's come out on top and is ready to kick butt in 2025. With Lands release and constant updates for it and lots of other great features this up coming year is going to be packed with features and updates that are sure to get more involved and active.

DCrops Dcrops about a year ago had a major update to the game that added in things like crafting etc but the core base of the game is all about growing crops and selling them off. Start off as easy or as hard as you like.

Recently Released

GolemOverloads a rather straight forward game however there's been increasing amounts of development happening on it which has been opening up unique features. Pretty much harvest stacks of tokens, defend them and battle others for theirs.

TerraCore much like the above game this browser based game is even more simplistic but seems like there is more work being done on it. Build up and harvest.

Rise of the Pixels one of the more unique games on hive which is all about building and creating games with your development team and then releasing them. Provides a pretty cool nice twist on the standard browser style game.

Coming Soon

Holozing this one should be a rather solid game in terms of play style and level type systems many are use to if you've ever played the likes of pokemon/palworld. Coming some time mid to late 2025 is most likely the real release date but there will be a Alpha/Beta in there as well.

There's a few other honorable mentions but they still seem far away from amounting to anything. Those being... ArcadeColony, GLX, PEPE Game, RisingStar, Genesis League Sports.

If you know of other games not mentioned here that you feel deserve to be looked at by others please drop a link in the comments.

I'd love to see this part of hive blockchain thrive again as there's so much potential there to make gaming fun but also ways to build real assets with value.

There's Demonicore, Dungeon Cities, Big Dog Bone, Stardom

I thought Stardom was shutting it's doors? Hungeon cities seems new though!

I just remembered Stardom since it's the same as Rising Star. Dungeon Cities is a new game.

I haven't played DCity or any Hive games yet, what's the upfront cost to get started building a city and playing the game?

Dicty can be expensive in terms of getting it running. But SIM tokens are rather low cost right now. But you'll be limited to only new buildings and the auction house now. You could most likely get going with about 5 hive in assets but it wont amount to much. The SIM:Swipe.Hive pool is another option to get started. Getting up to 1 million sim in there gives you access to discord daily civ claims.

Thanks for that. I'll sit down one day and pick a game.
Are you going to cover that Dungeon game also or waiting for it to get a bit further along in development?

We have several fun games here on HIVE!

Splinterlands is still the biggest and best in my opinion. I've been in since the kickstarter. dCrops is another one I still play. Been wanting to play Rising Star and dCity and Rise of the Pixels but just too busy. I'm ready for Holozing, got a few vials and some ZING.

Thanks for mentioning PEPE Game! I pretty much made it just for me and a few friends to play, but we now have a few dozen people in there. Still adding new content and game play, as time permits.

Looking forward to whatever new games may launch in the future. Yes, there Is so much potential here!

I would say RisingStar is a few notches above GLS and Arcade and the such, and it's been around for long. Very curious about Holozing, can't wait to see it live! !BBH

Splinterlands really made a huge change in the gaming of Hive. I think it's also the one that will drive the most attraction!

HIVE is perfect for gaming and gamers. It's just the start hopefully, but what a great start it is :D

There's also Immortal Creed, Pepegame and Ethgard legends (Ethgard is a bit 50/50 on being a HIVE games as they are trying to move to another Blockchain, but it's still possible to interract and play the game with only a HIVE account).

!BBH

I was going to add ethgard but it seems like it's more Ethereum than hive the more I use it lol immortal creed is an old one is that thing still kicking? There's also MuTerra (Which seems to be mainly focused now on mini games instead of the core game lol, Splinterforge.io, CryptoCopmany, EXode but most of those have been around forever and not sure if they will ever launch.

Yeah Immortal Creed is quite active right now, they just celebrated 1 million battles played and they did a seasonal even or smthing.

I was super excited for MuTerra at the start, but they lost their developers or got caught in some drama, super bummed that they are not pursuing their original idea (Maybe they are, haven't paid much attention).
