NFTs In Gaming Are Just Getting Started

A number of months ago I called that NFTs would be introduce mainstream via games we know and love already. While yes we have NFT games themselves such as Splinterlands what we haven't seen are mainstream games such as Battlefield, Apex Legends, Fortnite etc take on this new power.

Yeah I know I'm going to hear it already... But NFTs are pointless and have no value. Tell that to someone that spends thousands on skins for Fortnite which are locked to that one account or the person that mines day and night in new world with nothing to show for it.

These assets are account locked and are susceptible to hacks and other exploits.

Now image for a moment buying a NFT skin which can be moved from account to account but only used on one account at a time. Now that there is a powerful thing and something people want! Real ownership of the digital assets they buy.

Queue up Ubisoft

Ubisoft was one of the first to introduce rewards for playing games. Little odds and ends bonuses for leveling up and doing things in game. Well now they are the first company I know of taking this one step forward by offering up redeemable NFTs for doing things.

While the initial results have been somewhat iffy it makes me laugh also that people get bent out of shape when getting free things lol The most recent was having to have logged 600 hours into the game Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Its funny to me that people would complain about this. Either do the 600 hours or don't no one is forcing you so stop feeling so entitled for everything! Those that put in the 600 hours well they get rewarded for it. This isn't free hand me outs and that's sadly what a majority of people think happens all the time now.

If anything I call to action that we should go support such things. There needs to be a new wave. A wave of self entitled that needs to be crushed and fairly rewarded for time and effort put in is what is rewarded once again.

I firmly believe many more games will soon follow with NFT introductions. Most will be trinkets for doing things but what I would love to see is something like Ghost recon has just done. Where you earn or buy NFTs which you can then use in game.

As I said before there are some games like this in the MMO style and I feel like the closest one so far is a game called Immersys on the wax blockchain where every piece of equipment and resource harvested can be sold on the market.

That's one thing I am VERY excited for for Splinterlands when land releases and provides many more elements and resources to the game which can be harvested, mined, crafted and sold on the open market. The demand for such things is growing and taking things up to the next level are going to be a critical part for the success of future games in 2022.

Even with all the negative feedback there's one thing for sure. There's a huge demand for it but it's going to have to be implemented correctly for it to take off. IN just Q3 alone over 2.32 Billion dollars was generated from NFT gaming!

Many new NFT games are crowd funding at the moment and end up getting massive support. In fact a recently one just pulled 55 million in funding for it's creation. I expect a huge new level of gaming for the NFT space come 2022.

What NFT game or what game do you wish had NFTs?

I wish Runescape had NFTs and I could convert my gold to crypto at will, would be amazing. !PIZZA

lol right that would be pretty dope! Being able to earn and have real value on resources in game just brings a whole new level of I want to play the heck of out this game!

The interesting thing is that Ubisoft released a video a few weeks ago saying they were going to implement NFTs in their new marketplace and the majority of their customers disliked the video lol. I do believe adoption will eventually happen, but there will be a lot of resistance to overcome.

lol yep because they had to log 600 hours in the game. Seems pretty dumb to dislike something free either play the 600 hours or don't and stop crying about free stuff. Majority of people seriously be weird anymore

I still don't know why people are still afraid(?) of the implementation of NFT's.

I'm not sure about NFTs in particular, but I think a lot of people are afraid of crypto because it's strange and unfamiliar, yet very powerful.

Wish I didn't sell all my Splinterlands assets in like July and have to rebuild everything after it went boom

Don’t feel bad…I did the same last winter 😔
