That is the nature of technology. People seem to miss this point and think that everything is going to be a screaming success. The reality is most things, in the tech realm, fail.
It is why VC firms seek to garner a 1 out of 10 HR rate.
Oh totally I understand that. 9 out of 10 companies or projects are going to fail but those one or two should be large enough successes to counter it and beat it. That's kind of where doing your own research etc lines up.
I agree with you that not all technology works. I work around technology and I am constantly amazed when it works as advertised, and have adapted to the truth that each day is filled with workarounds, but confident that we are making progress.
