They are actually illegal in Canada for dumb reasons, while the throwing axe, kunai, and my Norman Bates Special are NOT illegal, go figure. These ones are simply sheet metal made props. You'd likely prefer these.

That's ridiculous, these don't look like very effective throwing stars basically the same as if you yeet any old piece of silver
Tactically, real Throwing stars are often used as a distraction weapon in a group melee situation. Not fatal as itself but buys your teammate a moment to strike his opponent, or flee, after you stick a star into that opponent's back making him think there is a more immediate threat behind him.
I may be sneaking in a Silver throwing star as a Christmas star decoration. Stay tuned.
