RE: Leo and Hive. Two paths, one way.

in LeoFinance4 years ago

I haven't answered yet because I'm still thinking through the issue. You may not be aware of it, but ideas have been tossed around for how to improve HBD mechanics for many years now. Making a decision about making changes to the mechanism is a non-trivial one, and I'm not going to commit to working on code related to that until/if I have a solid plan for doing it.

Don't you literally already have to develop a solution in order to turn the ninjamine into HBD for the dev fund?

Two birds, one stone, friend.

Just make it so we can reverse-convert Hive back into HBD over 3.5 days... sorted.

I agree that a reverse-conversion would solve the problem with HBD going above USD, and if that gets to be an issue again, some limited form of that seems like the simple fix (well, other than the HF, of course). Creation thru collateral is another. I plan to look at HBD stability in the future, and I'm happy to read ideas about it in the meantime, but there's a lot of high priority things to improve now, HBD stability is just one. We may be able to address it HF25, but it's too soon to say yet.

Good to know that you're thinking about it, I'm aware that many ideas about HBD have been tossed but we haven't seen any development in that aspect, I guess that is probably one of the important issues in Hives development agenda.

Indeed is better to have things clear before implementing something like what @edicted proposed, a HF would be needed for this as is a core aspect of the chain so isn't an easy patch of course.

I would like to invite you to discuss in his post any thought about it, I mean your first impressions (I will read it with much interest), also would like to apologize if you felt this post too harsh, we smalls fishes usually get ignored if we don't speak loud enough 😅.

Thank you for your feedback.

It tends to be my habit to read more than write, because days go by too quickly when I get involved in written discussions. Especially when it comes to complex discussions like design of a stable coin. Often these discussions come up at times when I'm busy with other work, and if I get embroiled in them, it can cause a severe distraction. Interruptions during the middle of coding can have unfortunate side effects, I've found.

When I've had some time, I'll complete and share my ideas about improvements to HBD, some of which have already been suggested by others in the past.

I really appreciate that you've taken some of your time in your reply and feel very honoured for it. I think that edicted himself was skeptical about the possibility to at least discuss this changes on the blockchain as he stated on his post.

In my post one of the things I pointed out about the advantages of Leo over Hive is that is a centralized formula is easier to have one person involved than a lot of witnesses and stakeholders. This is mainly a communication problem because if you want to suggest changes who you should be talking to?. I guess that you are a good candidate for it because you listened us :).

This experience renewes my good feelings about Hive

Will be looking forward for this. Thank you very much and Hive on!.
