Both have their niches. Your propagation networks. Their Communities and mainly, offer their “Remunerations”.
Drawing a parallel between content production between video and article formats does not mean choosing or guiding you to decide between one or the other. As the popular saying goes: “One is good” and “Two is even better”. (lol)
I divide my time between producing articles and videos. Sometimes, producing videos leads me to create ideas for the production of new articles, and vice versa.
Content production should not be based solely – with remuneration as its sole objective. Of course, this is a very important issue, but it should not be the decisive factor, ever.
Both videos and articles have similar and at the same time completely different characteristics. In retrospect, I would say that: Articles are for more mature, older people, while Videos are popular among all age groups, especially among younger people.
Videos, especially in podcast format – short and personal – are definitely a growing market. With Web3, the Metaverse and AIs, videos gained valuable resources and by associating these resources with the “Laziness of Reading”, they gained the preference of young people.
We could safely say that social media has buried the passion for reading. Youtube is the great “Villain”, when in fact it could be the “Saint of Miracles”. Even the most conservative and traditional Writer has certainly surrendered to the practice of using it as a “Source of Inspiration”. If not on YouTube, on any other platform like TikTok, Facebook or Twitter.
In a figurative comparison, I imagine the Articles as “Wines” or “Scots” stored in Oak Barrels, for long periods, capable of offering an exquisite and inexplicably exotic flavor.
The videos, in turn, could be compared to “Coca-Cola”. You find it everywhere. (lol)
Just turn on your cell phone and Voilá!!! The videos start to pop up... (lol)
This does not mean in any way that the Articles would be doomed to failure or extinction. If you are reading this article now, that means I still have time to live. (lol)
In fact, it's just a matter of habit, education or pleasure, where you can choose between enjoying a good wine, a scot (accompanied by a good cigar or pipe), or simply enjoying a refreshing glass of “Coca-cola”.
In fact, both options are excellent. We just have to identify the most opportune moment to enjoy both.
