Okay Somebody... Explain VSC to me like I am seven and tell me why it is important... #hive #vsc #fyi #honestquestion

Sort:

From what I understand it is supposed to be a decentralized second layer for Hive that is supposed to allow cross-chain bridging and smart contract infrastructure on Hive that is not controlled by one single person like Hive-Engine is.

What evil mind is behind #hiveengine? !BBH

Aggroed, it was basically created in the steem days to be a token exchange for Splinterlands (Steem Monsters at the time). But they created fake smart contracts that they gate keep so people have to pay their BEE token to create anything.

Okay, and what is the benefit/use case for smart contracts?

that's where your little Hive Engine tokens, NFTs, Splinterlands cards, etc all come from. They have contracts for different things. You just have to pay a fee to use them which is pretty much bullshit if you ask me when I can go to Ethereum or any other EVM chain and launch one for just the cost of network gas. Don't have to pay a middleman.

Plus, Aggroed provides and controls most of the liquidity in the main diesel pools, so if he were to ever pull his LP out, the markets would be FUCKED. Hive-Engine is EXTREMELY centralized. VSC is supposed to be the answer for that. Their smart contracts are supposed to be similar to ETH in that anyone can come and build for no gatekeeper fees. Plus the VSC witnesses use Hive Power for voting, not a centralized WORKERBEE token used for the Hive-Engine witnesses that is extremely consolidated with a few people.
