It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the Leo community.
Once again, there are so many things to unpack from this last week that I am not even sure where to start. I guess the best place to start is the beginning and since I am posting this on LEO Fiance I will start there.
LEO Finance AMA's
It has been quite a while that the team has been doing these weekly AMA's for LEO Finance. @khaleelkazi, @scaredycatguide, and @nealmcspadden get together each week and talk about updates to the LEO ecosystem. The cool things is, even though it is a largely Leo-centric AMA, they talk about a wide range of topics. They even have some pretty lucrative competitions sometime.
Bottom line, this is a gem that I overlooked for quite some time. Now, I try to make sure I catch the live stream each week. It is definitely worth it and they do a great job of making it entertaining. If you can't catch it live, be sure to carve out some time and watch the past episode on YouTube. You can catch them all there.
Ford
Over the past couple of months Ford has really started to make a break out in terms of stock. I have a handful of Ford shares that I bought shortly after the huge government bailout of the auto industry. The main reason I went with Ford was due to the fact that they were the only one of the "Big Three" automakers that didn't take a bailout. That meant something to me back then.
Over the years, the stock has languished in the $10 range, but it pays a pretty decent dividend, so I have held onto it for a while now.
I have never owned a Ford vehicle. My dad is a retired autoworker from GM and in the past owning something besides a Chevy would have been blasphemy. In fact my wife's dad is retired from GM as well and we both own General Motors vehicles.
In light of that fact, and the boom in GM stock price after the bailout it seems like that might have been the better choice.
Until now.
With the recent release of their electric pickup truck Ford stock looks to be coming back in a big way. Last I checked the share price it was right around $25 per share which is phenomenal. If sales of the electric truck continue to go without any major snags, I might see some even juicier dividends on my shares this year!
The Winds of Change
I must be a glutton for punishment, but a couple of times a day I like to scroll through the Yahoo news feed and see what kind of stuff is going on in the world. My customized feed gives me news on entertainment, pop culture, sports, and of course crypto stories.
If you know Yahoo news, you know one of the main reasons people bother with half the stories on there is because of the comments. You get some real winners on there for sure. In fact, there are some stories now that Yahoo turns comments off because they realized they needed to curb some of the racist and hate speech that was happening there.
Anyway, in the past, you were almost always guaranteed to get a certain group of people with very specific comments on Cryptocurrency related stories. Without fail there was always that handful of people who brought up some tulips they had for sale... Okay boomer. Then there were others who brought the same old arguments that "it is based on nothing". One of my favorites are when the story is about the price dropping and the inevitable comments like "good, the price is heading where it belongs".
Stuff like that was probably about 95% of the comments you would see on those stories.
That is changing though, and in the past couple of months I have noticed a shift. Sure, there are still people that make comments like I listed above, but there is also now an abundance of people ready and willing to point out their flawed logic.
It's awesome to see so many crypto enthusiasts and believers standing up for this thing that we love and doing what they can to dispel the myths and misinformation.
It probably won't land with a lot of those people, but as they say in the X-Files, "The Truth is Out There".

I am sure @trumpman already beat me to this, but I just got an email letting us know that Travala is doing another airdrop of sorts.

I got on the train late too. I bought a bunch of mine between three and five dollars . Ouch! I think it will be worth it in the end. Fingers crossed I can pick one of the NFTs up
I also paid a premium, but I agree that it will be worth it in the end.
