I was going to say that it seems like you would be more open to security threats the more that we move to something like this. Then I realized that as we become less dependent on a central source for energy that probably eliminates many of the attack points. I have been wanting to get solar at my house for a while now, but the upfront cost is so high and there are so many pop-up companies these days, you don't know if you can trust them.

Decentralization tends to make systems more resilient, whatever those systems are. In this instance, I would say the energy grid would be enhances since it would be decentralized. There might be a few individual or small clusters that could be hit but widespread damage is not likely.

Yeah, I came to that conclusion as well.
