Officers have made an arrest in an unusual case in Port au Port, N.L., according to the RCMP.
The case started late last month, when police began investigating a report of a seriously injured snowmobiler on Gravel's Pond in Port au Port around 4:30 p.m. NT on Feb. 21.
Police said the driver fell off the machine as it stopped, but the injuries he had were not consistent with a fall.
The RCMP's major crimes unit has been involved in the investigation, and on Feb. 25 — just days after the initial report — searched a home on Front Road in Port au Port West.
In a news release, the RCMP said officers seized "a number of items," but didn't say what they are.
Police haven't offered any more details on the case, but on Monday morning confirmed to CBC News they have made an arrest.
