Greetings, everyone!
The long-awaited $GRASS token genesis event is now behind us and it didn't go down without some usual drama. If you wish to read about a normal day at the office of an airdrop farmer, check out my Grass airdrop experience in my previous blog post.
Quite often after the airdrop, the price starts declining as people dump the token. In that light, $GRASS has held up pretty nicely and even started to climb upwards.
This positive movement might be prompted by the staking possibilities across centralized exchanges and on the Grass Foundation's official staking site. It could also indicate a successful operation ruling out sybils, leaving more enthusiastic users to receive the airdrop.
I am very bullish on Grass in the long run not only because of their idea and tech but also cos it's a perfect match with currently trending crypto narratives: AI and DePIN. Grass is something that will likely attract VCs in the near future and let's not forget the potential tier-1 (CB, Kraken, Binance) CEX listings...
After Grass
Enough about Grass. So what other airdrop farming opportunities are still out there?
During the past year, I have been participating in many different kinds of airdrops. In ones that don't require any initial deposit(such as Grass) and in those that do require users to deposit crypto assets or stables to increase their points.
Unfortunately, the whole airdrop farming scene has become very diluted and it is, if not dead, then fading out. Even the ones that people farm with a couple of ETH fail to deliver nothing but dust while whales on top take the lion's share.
In my opinion, instead of depositing assets to these platforms and leaving them there almost idle to collect almost worthless points, I think a better way to play the game is trading or investing in new projects.
That being said, testnet farming could be a solid option as it doesn't (usually) require initial capital. When I said the airdrop space is diluted, it especially applies to farming these free ones. Still, by choosing the right projects we could very well be in for at least some sort of reward. Grass was free and it delivered nicely to those who followed the rules.
So, here are my free-to-farm picks for potential airdrops that stand out and that I believe could be worth our time and effort.
Berachain
This is a bit time-sensitive since the testnet has been ongoing for a while now and if I remember correctly, they should launch later this year. However, Berachain is one of the most anticipated new chains and airdrops so it probably wouldn't hurt to gain some exposure to it. Especially since it doesn't take much time or effort.
All you need is an EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby (I'd recommend Rabby) and a minimum amount of 0.001 ETH in your wallet. This is probably their way of cutting down sybils.
Then just claim testnet $BERA from the faucet every 8 hours and interact with dapps found on the same site as you scroll down.
While farming Berachain I've also been trying to get some sort of a sense of which factors could be taken into consideration for potential airdrop allocation to users.
There are quite a many overpriced Bera NFTs out there and my educated guess is that a big chunk of the airdrop will fall into the hands of those holding these. We, the small fish, are then left to fight for crumbs. Although it's an unverified rumor, many sources are also hinting that the amount of BGT we hold could be a part of the criteria. BGT is earned when adding liquidity into the, for example, BERA/HONEY -pair.
💡 PRO TIP: Besides the ones listed above, there are also many other Berachain apps out there that could potentially have an airdrop of their own at some point so a good play here would be interacting with as many dapps as possible. If you want a list of these, let me know in the comments.
Movement
If Berachain is easy to interact with, the same can't be said about Movement. Well, the tasks are pretty straight forward but since they go through Galxe, there might be some issues at one or other end that could make you scratch your head a bit. Movement requires a bit more time than Berachain and is also time-sensitive but if you are willing to put in effort, there's still a possibility to rank up high as most of the quests are still there and can be completed.
Once you have done enough quests, keep an eye out for Guilds where you can claim Discord roles and also check out items. Both of these could play an important role when they decide on the airdrop allocation.
💡 PRO TIP: Check out Zoth Atlas which you can interact with both Movement and Berachain.
If you are struggling to get started with the testnet, check out my Movement airdrop guide which you might find helpful.
Monad
This is perhaps the one that's giving me the most headaches. First of all, Monad hasn't launched a testnet yet, and the only way to "farm" it is through their Discord channel. If you are active there and contribute, you might be eligible for something called 'Nad'-role which is supposed to be a very desired one possibly carrying some weight for the future airdrop.
To be honest, I've tried but I just don't grasp the whole idea of contributing. Sure, there are channels for devs but if you lack those kinda skills like me, the 'contributing' seems to mean creating Monad memes and sharing them on socials.
I'm not much of a meme-creating guy but more of a meme-aping-in guy so I have just chatted there on Discord, trying to create meaningful conversations as well as reacting to their Monad X posts. Wish I could be more helpful but if this sort of farming is something you better understand, go for it. Monad is probably the most less time-sensitive out of these three so there should be plenty of time left.
Lastly, the reason why I picked Berachain, Movement, and Monad is the amount of funding they have received:
These are big numbers and are hopefully reflected in the airdrop allocation. Since there are only so few hours in a day and testnet airdrops (as well as others...) are very uncertain, my advice is to focus on just a couple of ones with big backers and a lot of funding behind them.
After that, it's just grinding and crossing your fingers.
Thank you for reading!
