Happy weekend, airdrop farmers!
CT (Crypto Twitter) is full of people rejoicing about getting the $HYPE airdrop I unfortunately missed. However, the best thing in the crypto space is the endless opportunities, so instead of scrolling down and down CT while silently weeping, I pick myself and my shovel up and start planting a seed for another farming opportunity.
Walrus is a decentralized data storage protocol on the SUI network and farming it is free since it's happening on the SUI testnet.
So, without further ado, here's a complete guide to help you get started.
Download SUI Wallet
First things first. If you don't already have an SUI wallet, you will need to download a Chrome wallet extension. I'm using SUI Wallet but you can choose another one such as Nightly if you want.
While setting up your wallet, remember to save and store your seed phrase in a safe offline place. You can also create SUI wallet by using your Google account but in this case, I'd advise setting a 2fa for your account.
Now that your wallet is all set, you need to switch the network from the SUI mainnet to the SUI testnet. This happens by clicking the settings symbol on the top right corner.
Getting Testnet $SUI
Next, we need some testnet tokens. Copy your SUI address and navigate to https://faucet.blockbolt.io/ which is an SUI testnet faucet.
Paste your address (or SUI name service name) in the field and click the button. You should have now received 1 testnet SUI.
Swap And Stake
Head over to https://stake.walrus.site/, connect your wallet, and click the 'Get WAL' -button in the top right corner. You can now swap your SUI to a WAL token but note that you will need at least one WAL in the next phase so you probably have to visit the faucet again. I waited about an hour or two and then claimed some more.
Once you're all good, scroll down a bit and choose any node from the list. Then choose the amount you want to stake(at least 1 WAL) and accept the transaction in your wallet.
You should now be able to see your staked amount under the nodes list.
Get Two NFTs
Now it's time to get our hands on a couple of NFTs. The first quest to complete is called Walrus Odyssey and it happens on Galxe where you need to complete some simple tasks such as following Walrus' X account and visiting their website.
At this point, it's fair to mention that even though the testnet is free, you will need some real $SUI to claim the NFTs as for some reason it happens on SUI mainnet.
The good news is that it is very cheap, something like <$0.01. You can get SUI from most exchanges and send a minimum amount to your SUI wallet, there's only two NFTs to claim so you won't need much.
Another thing we need to do is to bind our SUI wallet to our Galxe account:
- On Galxe, Click your profile pic
- Click settings
- Click wallet addresses
- Scroll down 'Add Addresses' and choose 'SUI'
- Note that at this point you need to switch from testnet to mainnet
The last task before claiming your NFT is the quiz and here are the right answers: B,A,D,B
After successfully claiming the first NFT, it's time to complete another, very similar one named Walrus Explorer.
You know the drill. The correct answers for the second quiz are: B,C,B,A
Now you should be able to see your NFTs in your wallet 'Assets' -section (on mainnet).
Even though Galxe quests are always annoying and claiming costs a tiny bit of real SUI, I highly recommend grabbing the NFTs since they might carry big value when the airdrop points are counted.
If you have done all the tasks, you've already joined the Walrus Discord server but there's the link anyway. Keep following the official announcements there to keep up with the project and see if there will more stuff to do in the future.
Bonus Airdrop
The Lumoz airdrop is already in its checker phase but even if you haven't been actively farming it, you might still be eligible for some $esMOZ tokens.
For example, I checked if I was eligible for staking $TIA, which I wasn't, and then decided to check with my EVM wallet. To my surprise, I'm eligible for 200 tokens based on my on-chain activity.
Not that familiar with this project so keeping my expectations low.
Conclusion
The market has entered the bull run phase and altcoin season is just around the corner. I'm guessing many projects have planned their TGEs for these times as there will be increased demand for everything. So in my opinion, the airdrop season is far from over and these are perfect times to keep grinding.
