My brother is a professional trader and he always says it's mostly a mental thing - learning how to control your emotions.
If I were to start trading, I'd read a couple of books about how to control feelings when trading.

Very well said, and, no doubt, very true. Emotions in trading, more or less, always lead to loss. I have personally experienced it.
Even though I haven't traded that actively myself, even with investing and holding I have experienced those powerful emotions - fomo & greed.
So many times promised myself to take profit... but you know how that usually goes.
Agree, it took me some time to control myself and then I started getting a little bit of profit here and there.
What I've heard, it can be a long process too. The word 'control' is the key here since we cannot shut down those emotions completely, just to cope with them.
Thank you both for a very interesting discussion. I think it has to do with psychology. Usually hodlers do not take profit (myself included) we prefer to let them be there until the end.
We need to change our thoughts for becoming traders
You're welcome! And exactly. There's a need for a change of mindset when trading. for sure.
Hope you find someone here to help you with technical & fundamental analysis 😊
