This might be a stupid question but how do the companies or teams behind crypto wallets like MetaMask, Phantom, Kepler, etc. make their money?
Wallets are free and there are no ads so what's their earning logic?

Wallets are not free, they charge the outgoing transactions. And swaps are costly too. e.g. Exodus pays workers in bitcoin and they have a high charge in crypto swap.

Well they are free, not free to use. There's a big difference.
I don't think that swaps are that costly, for example on Solana it's something like $0.01. So do the wallets take their cut from that too? I now that DEX do.
Haha just use the exodus and atomic wallet's swaps. You'd get back to the decentralied swaps like stealthex etc.
No! I don't use that shit. I had Atomic Wallet like 4 years ago but that is just trash. It's like Ethereum, no one should use shit like that.
Only thing I am using from eth universe is Optimism and Polygon. Otherwise ETH is a pain for poor like me.
Yeah, I was referring to mainnet. The L2s are gonna get even cheaper with the next update.
I cant speak to the others but there is a Metamask fee on their transactions. It is very small but I guess it ads up. They are also VC backed.

Yeah, that's interesting cos I know that the DEXes the wallet is connected to obviously take their share of the swap but I've never seen what's the wallets cut.
