Some sort of a snowstorm here but at least it's not firestorm.
Watched the news this morning and very sad to hear about the lives lost, and so many homes lost as well in those California fires.

I can't help wondering how many people who have lost their home will just decide to leave California? Some will have insurance money to leave. Others without insurance surely won't be able to afford to rebuild at California prices.
I think many will leave or at least think about it. Must be absolutely devastating for those without insurance.
Yeah, we got snow too. Fires are one thing that I don't miss about Oregon. But we have that potential here too though as we have a bunch of forest land, lol.
We rarely have forest fires, or that they'd be an issue here in Finland although it's almost covered with forest. Probably cos it's not that dry here. However, once in while during summers we get smoke here from Russia's forest fires! 😂 Not sure how they are handling things over there...😀
On the west coast, they do the best they can, but the fires can get out of control very fast.
Where I currently am, it can get dry, but we have a decent amount of humidity. It's not out of the question and has happened before on our property. I have been flying my drone, seeing all the deadfall around and yeah, there is a bunch I need to clean up, lol. But the deer like to bed in it, and our family hunts a lot, so we keep it around.
One project I have is to create a bit of a fire break around my place, mainly in the back part of the house.
Here in Europe we have wildfires every summer, in France, Spain, Italy, Greece…
Almost always done by arsonists.
In Turkey they have a very good nature management, with controlled fires and trees cut down do leave blank space. And, I’ll be damned, they’re the hottest country of them and almost never have wildfires… 🤷🏼♂️
Yep, it pays to do the work, that's for sure.
Yeah, I read that one of the reasons the fires in California spread so fast was the Santa Ana wind which was very strong.
This sounds like quite a big project!
Not as bad as you would think. I am going to leave some of the bigger trees, just get rid of the the smaller stuff and a good bit of the ground scraggle. Winter is the best time to get it done because I don't have to deal with snakes.
Ok! Not too bad then. Man... I wouldn't be able to do anything near snakes... 😅
Oh, I am NOT a fan, lol.
what do you think is the drastic step the government should take to prevent the citizens from the fire drama.
