MetaMask was my first Web3 wallet and has been my trusted companion for years. This changed some time ago when was introduced to Rabby wallet, an alternative to MetaMask to be used with Ethereum mainnet and L2s.
In this short article, I will share some Rabby features that make me choose Rabby over MetaMask.
Gas Account
On Ethereum mainnet or layer 2s such as Arbitrum, Optimism, or Polygon, you should always have some ETH lying around to cover the gas fees when making swaps or sending tokens. Recently Rabby introduced a helpful feature called Gas Account to make life a little bit more convenient for us multi-chain degens.
With a minimum amount of $20, you can top-up this personal account of yours with USDC or USDT on mainnet or L2s and use it to pay gas fees on any chain meaning if you used USDC on OP to deposit, you can pay for gas on Arbitrum, Mode and so on.
Pretty handy if you ask me since I have this bad habit of leaving as little ETH as possible on any network. Then when it's time to make another transaction I'm usually short on ETH and sending or bridging can be a little time-consuming sometimes.
Safety Features
As we know, scammers come up with all sorts of cunning schemes to get access to our assets. Times when my wallet has been compromised have happened during a hurry, me making a hasty click. Rabby has some good safety features to prevent the most stupid mistakes from happening.
For example, it will warn you when you are trying to connect to suspicious apps.
Rabby can be a little over-protecting sometimes when it comes to new dapps as it warns about them based on their popularity but it's better to be safe than sorry. Also, you can of course choose to ignore its warnings if you are certain the dapp is legit. Some dapps are also verified by Rabby like Uniswap here.
In addition, Rabby will warn you about blacklisted token addresses and notify you if a transaction simulation has failed. You can also revoke your approvals on any chain directly on Rabby.
Adding Networks & Signing Info
One thing I remember struggling with MetaMask during the early days was adding networks - finding and copy/pasting RPC URLs.
Just like with tokens, Rabby does this automatically by opening a pop-up window for you to sign when you first connect your wallet.
When you are signing a transaction Rabby Wallet shows a lot more information than MetaMask. This is a feature I was always missing on MetaMask and felt like I was kept in the dark, not completely knowing the effect a swap would have on my wallet.
Keep Track of Your Staked Tokens
The Rabby interface displays the networks you have assets on in a clear order instead of a dropdown menu you need to scroll through. Besides not only showing the tokens you have on the selected network, it also shows your staked assets and even the rewards.
I don't know whether MetaMask already has this feature but on Rabby, when you receive tokens on your wallet they are automatically added. If you've received some shady ones, you can easily block them.
Conclusion
At first, Rabby might seem more complex than other wallets with more information shown at every phase but after a short period, I noticed all the features making my activities a lot smoother, saving me time, and most importantly, making me feel more safe.
There isn't an ongoing Rabby points campaign nor am I paid to write this. In my opinion, Rabby is superior to MetaMask and if you want to take your activities to the next level, I highly recommend checking Rabby out.
Oh, if you still wish to use MetaMask side by side with Rabby, you can set different dapps to be opened with MM or flip between Rabby and Metamask on Rabby UI.
Thank you for reading!

DISCLAIMERS:
TON mini-apps I'm currently playing:
🔹 Blum - play mini-game and complete tasks to earn Blum points (pre-market trading live on Whales Market!)
🔹 Wizzwoods - cool strategy game (Berachain + Tabi)
🔹 TON Station - very simple farming game with a lot of potential
🔹 Agent 301 - perhaps the next $DOGS
🔹 Tomarket - hurry up! airdrop in October
❗ I don't recommend investing any money into TG games. The actual airdrop might not cover the amount you put in.

I agree, years ago I also started with metamask but after a lot of strange errors and failed transactions in web3 games I switched to Rabby two years ago, I never had problems again
Nice! Now that you mentioned it, I think the percentage of transactions going through has increased here as well. Besides, I don't know if it's at my end but MM is really slow loading.
Congratulations @brando28!
You raised your level and are now a Minnow!
