2023 finished badly - 2024 hopes, goals and endgames

The end of 2023

All of December I had some health issues, went through a few treatments and when Christmas arrived I had been hospitalised starting the 21st where I was sent home and then again 22nd where they decided to keep me and I got out by the 28th.

All those blood samples make it look like a junkie arm

The cause

This week long trip was caused by 2 blood clots in the right lung. Apparently, blood clots in the lungs are mostly caused by them coming from the legs, loosen themselves and then go through the heart and to the lungs.

I have not had any pain in my legs and my heart has not had any unnecessary stress, leading to suggest that these 2 blood clots may not have come the "usual" way.

This is both good and bad. Good because my heart is great and bad because they don't really know what has caused it.. and one of the clots are fairly large, according to the doctors. They also said I could have a massive infection, caused by the clots and my inability to properly breathe with all of my lungs.

And so they treated me with antibiotics

Christmas 🎄

Luckily I had some family and friends visiting me during the holidays. It didn't change the fact that it was exceptionally boring!

At the hospital they actually served Christmas food. At least I think they did, I was a bit wasted on morphine and slept most of the evening.

Here is the very first thing I tried to eat while I was hospitalised.

New years eve 🎆 🎇

This was also a bit unconventional for me. I like beer, and I like beer a lot. And when I drink I usually smoke a whole lot.

On this eve, when we left 2023 and welcomed 2024, I only had 4 beers and not one single cigarette. Actually I haven't had a cigarette since December 22nd when I 'heroically' tried to have a smoke before I went into the hospital. This resulted in a massive coughing episode, blood coming up from the lungs and general discomfort. All that from just 3 tiny puff on that cigarette.

Anyway, I was with my daughter and her mum and some friends from my daughters class and their parents came over too. They were, obviously, very interested in knowing what had happened.

2024 begins

We all got into 2024 safe and sound. One resolution I have never had before (no kidding) is quit smoking. I still haven't had it as a resolution, but it's close this year as my main resolution (and also goal) for 2024 is: Don't start smoking

2024 : the year of goals

2024 is almost a week old. When the year is two weeks old I will be turning 35 years old. With the recent events I actually see reason to celebrate.

I have tried doing goals for a year before and I have also failed miserably. This time around, there is a plan behind the goals, which should be making the road towards the goals far more achievable.

The Goals

Save money, store them in crypto

2023 was a bad year in many ways. I liquidated multiply crypto accounts and left myself with just about $200 in crypto assets. I also tried my luck with leveraged trading. Despite actually reading the market fairly well, with one or two exceptions, I got greedy and didn't close my positions in time. This often lead to the position being liquidated. The very early days of 2024 has had 4 similar scenarios. Up 100%, not closing and wam!bam! -> liquidation price reached.

The goal now is to have $200 start capital for leveraged trading. And then close positions! But most importantly, all the money I will save due to not smoking can (hopefully) be put into savings in various crypto assets.

Hardware wallet 100%

At the time of writing I only have some of my assets protected with a hardware (cold) wallet. Most is actually on hot wallets.

Luckily I don't have that much stored these days, but before I'm going to start saving, I will be doing my own hardware wallet (USB and Software to do Ledger-like protection).

Participate in #lpud #hpud and #hpum

This may seem quite straightforward, but can turn out to be gælder than expected.

To be honest, the dream is to have all 36 badges by end of year, but recent times has shown me that unforeseen events can put a lid on plans like that. The minimum staked $LEO (LP) by end of year is 5k. Minimum $HIVE staked (HP) is 400. This leaves room for a few #hpum to be completed.

Also, preferably $HBD 300 in savings.

Pretty sloth goals, 🦥 very achievable - I hope!

Be more active

This would usually be very easy, but it has proved itself rather difficult in the early 2024 days, for obvious reasons.

However, I am challenging myself and not letting the cold snow stop me (I do not like the cold or the snow). It's some rather beautiful sceneries that can be captured in this sort of weather though.

Here are a few of the most recent ones.

Wish you a better year ahead

You have been incredibly lucky.
My wife's brother died from a blood clot in his leg at the age of 40. He was working away and staying in a hotel.
I am just thankful that they caught them.

Get well man and see you on the poker table soon!

Oh yes take profits! Take Profits ... did I say take profits, don't be greedy!

Loved your pictures btw 😁 looks just like here... Lol

I fully agree, looking at the positive things and what can be achieved after this incident is the way to go about it. Just like you seem to do yourself 🤗

The goals simply has to be done, there's no other way around it 😄

I hope you have a great week ahead too, hopefully with a somewhat speedy (but still safe) recovery 🌹

Where about in Sweden do you live? I heard there was a place with -43 degrees 😳 🥶 🧊
