Benefits are few, downsides are many. I grew up religious and can't stand it now but I understand some people get something out of it even though I don't.
People can have any belief they want, as long as they have the capacity to accept that not all people have the same belief as themselves, totally agree with that. Also agree that there are many downsides.. manipulation being one IMO
I am an Atheist who grew up Christian. The benefit is that you think you know how things came to be and the downside is that you think you know how things came to be. This holds you back from learning the truth.
36 years ago.I researched all religions/myths, read all versions of the bible and compared the gospels with each other, scrutinized the Old Testament and found too many problems to believe any of it. It was inspired by the belief, not god
It didn't take a lot really, because I was always skeptical, but I wanted to make sure and it's in my nature to do indepth research, so I did. And yes, I'm very happy and comfy with my decision.
i'm an athesit, because i don't need someone in the sky to tell me what should my moral rules be, and the positive thing is that whatever happens in my life i won't end in a lava pool for the eternity because i didn't help someone one once
The Christian people I know seem to put a lot of responsibility onto their friend in the sky and don't take responsibility for their own actions. I find that quite disturbing somehow.

When did you quit your previous religious path?

Took a lot to get out of it, but tbh I'm happy you're in a place you feel are better than the religious path

I hope you have used those natural skills in your work. Sounds like a great attribute to do indepth research whenever in doubt

Religion made for good but some try to use it manipulate others. Being relegious help to gain peace.
Benefits can be lessons and good energies. Downsides are misunderstandings. Am not religious. Because I choose not to be religious.
