How We Got Here
The time for Chaos Legion is upon us. The Phase 1 presale is coming to a close, and with it, the first 1,000,000 Chaos Legion packs will be sold.
After that, there will be a short break of a week or two, and then Phase 2 will commence. During Phase 2, packs will be available for immediate purchase if you spend an equal amount of vouchers. As of this writing, those vouchers are trading for $18.64. This makes the total cost $4 + $18.64 = $22.64 during Phase 2 (again, prices as of this writing).
But once Phase 2 is complete and those 2,000,000 packs are sold and/or 1 month elapses, Phase 3 will begin!
Everybody is looking forward to Phase 3 where anybody can buy packs without vouchers. And by everybody, I mean everybody.
There has already been a lot of discussion about how fast Phase 3 will sell out. $45-$50 million dollars sounds like a lot of money, and it is. But in the world of NFT gaming there is huge amounts of money out there looking for places to invest. As Bulldog1205 has said:

Into that mix, we got this announcement from aggroed yesterday:
Now this is nothing new. Splinterlands has always had white glove service for large purchases. What is different this time is the surrounding environment of pack sales. In previous editions, we weren't in danger of running out of packs entirely at the same time as these large sales were happening.
Already people are worried that they will not be able to buy any packs because these large organizations will crowd out the smaller players. And it's a reasonable concern.
The Solution
The solution is straightforward. We (gerber and nealmcspadden) are creating a large purchase group that anybody can buy into.
Introducing the XCHAOS token that is available for purchase on tribaldex.com
For each XCHAOS token you purchase you will receive 1 Splinterlands Chaos Legion pack and associated airdrop value.
This is unlike buying packs on the secondary market. Second-hand purchases do not receive any airdrops from the game. Only original purchases directly from the game qualify for airdrops.
Your Airdrop Value
Every holder of XCHAOS will receive the value of their airdrops. But cards are not divisible. So the fairest approach is siply to sell each airdrop and and distibute the DEC and SPS (converted to DEC) earnings to each XCHAOS holder.
Every holder of XCHAOS will get a daily distribution of DEC from the balance held by the pool at a fairly steady rate until both the SPS airdrop and the Chaos Legion cards airdrop are complete.
This creates an interesting case where you may end up wanting to sell your XCHAOS at some future point if you feel that others have a higher valuation of the future airdrops than you do. Then the market will market.
Pricing
There is no fixed price for XCHAOS. We will respond to market conditions until we receive the packs from the game. Once distibution of packs occurs, all trading will be among XCHAOS holders and will vary depending on what the market thinks the value of the remaining airdrops are.

Yes. You buy 1 XCHAOS, you will receive 1 Chaos Legion pack + future airdrop value from that 1 Chaos Legion pack
Hey, I have a few questions about this
Why would anyone want to join a pool when they can just go and buy the packs themselves?
Yabamatt said in the ama that the bulk buy will come in form of credits and the buyers will be able to buy during the general sale like anyone else.
Are you guys taking into account that agroed said that most likely the "bonus" for bulk buying is coming in form of potions? How is that going to benefit the pool? or the bonus will just be lost?

It's about access. There are many who think that the general sale is going to very quickly.
If it ends up being potions, there are 2 possibilities. One, we can possibly work with the devs to send potions to the end-recipients of the packs. Or two, if they won't do that, we have an automated pack opening system that we could apply to the pool account. We'd sell access for DEC and then the value would be added to the airdrop value distributions. We'd likely lose a percentage of the potion value in that scenario as our pack opening service would have to be priced below the market price of potions.
Oh, I posted the same question below. I don´t really see how it would give access if the pool has the same terms for bying, using credits on the webpage?
This seems like a cool project to dive in, how much is the minimum xchaos you need to start getting airdrop and when is it starting.

Minimum is 1 XCHAOS. It's live on the markets now. When we get the packs is a bit up to the Splinterlands community and how fast phase 2 sells out.

I don't think Phase 2 can sell out in less than a month, can it? You still need VOUCHERS to buy packs and they are only distributing 66,666 per day so it will take 30 days again for all VOUCHERS to be distributed. Then I would assume they have the week of waiting as buyers and sellers decide what they want to do. Just my thoughts...

Correct. Phase 2 will be at least 4 weeks, probably longer.
This is a great alternative to missing the boat after the website crashes shortly after 12 million packs get bought in 14 minutes. I hope Xchaos gets at least 1% of that. I know who I am buying from if I am not so lucky on D-day.
Hopefully the servers will be up to the challenge!

When we receive the packs from Splinterlands they will be sent out to XCHAOS holders. It will depend on how long phase 2 (still need vouchers) takes.
open bonus packs with the potions and distribute? Are token buyers getting benefit of any bonus packs level that we reach?
I would love this but how are you accessing the packs before everyone else? They clearly stated that large bulk buys don´t give any advantage of first opportunity.

You can't take anything said on an AMA as official until it's written in a post. We've seen details change many times over the years for lots of issues.
If you think that there will be enough packs to go around, then you don't need to buy XCHAOS unless you want pro-rated airdrop value. This can be an advantage if you don't plan on buying hundreds of packs.
Personally, I don't think there will be enough to go around.
Thanks for the reply! My main interest is to secure packs if they sell out immediately. The added airdrop value is a great bonus! However, I still don´t see how you will access them before it´s free for anyone to buy during the public sale, especially considering the statement from the devs on not premiering large bulk buys?

Hi, I bought one xchaos pack in hive engine. I would like to send that into the game so I try to send to the steemmonsters like the other pack. But seems like it is gone I cannot recive that. Is there anyway I can find it back and use ?
