Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to talk about dishing out some dollars!
Here's A Dollar
It's fun to give out dollars sometimes!
I know there are a lot of strange things, and the "dollar value" of a vote on Hive is one of them. We know that visually, it is a lot more than what it seems to be on the front ends. The front ends display the votes in values in terms of dollars because that's an easier metric to see how nice or not-nice something is. In the back-end though, it ties back to how much Hive you are giving the person in terms of the vote, which is the real magic.
With the recent improvements in the price of Hive, seemingly due to Binance adding futures for Hive to it's platform, we have been trending in the greener direction a lot more than we have for a while. These are certainly good things for the platform, because it exposes it to a wider audience on Binance than it was before. The futures stuff is not something I really know a whole lot about at the moment, but will eventually get a little lesson on.
With these improvements in the price action, it has also led to increased vote values as people have noticed over time. Those of us with larger stakes, over 5,000 Hive Power, have a more noticeable impact on how they vote a post. The higher your stake goes in the thousands, the more you are distributing Hive to users, as well as yourself via curation rewards. These are some of the things that folks really enjoy about Hive, and I certainly do myself!
With these changes, although my underlying vote value in terms of Hive I am distributing has gone up slightly higher every few days, the underlying dollar value visualized in dollars has gotten a lot cooler looking! At the moment since we've had a little dip in the market price of Hive it is under 1$ but for several days it was over 1$ which is wild for me!
The last time I saw something like this was when Hive hit the ATH of 3.xx$ a few years ago. Those were fun times, and thinking about it I would be giving out 6$ votes right now if we had an increase back up to 3$ in price. That's pretty wild to think about!
I think what makes it a bit different for me is that I've built the account from the ground up. Not that it's some sob story or some shit, but I've put a lot of time and effort into the account and my strategies. It hasn't always worked out but a lot of things have gone pretty well and it is going to get to a point where things are going to increase at a faster pace thanks to the power of compounding numbers. This will certainly relate to higher values in the terms of votes that I am able to dish out, which is a pretty cool thing for me to be able to experience.
I'll never forget a comment exchange with @daltono a few years ago - thinking about times when Hive price is a lot higher and things mature more, and people with considerable stake in the platform are going through their morning routines sending out $1, $5, $10 votes to various pieces of content and some of them giving people an amount of money that would be a full day or weeks worth of wages from the normal jobs they would work, in a vote. That's a pretty inspiring thing to think of still, and could likely be how the change in the way we work with money in the future ends up becoming a reality.
In the meantime though, I will always continue building my stake as much as I can and look forward to seeing the positive improvements it's making for my account in all the different ways!
What about you, have you noticed and appreciated your own vote value in dollars go up with the price appreciations? Let me know in the comments!

Very good article. Peace be upon us all
This is so amazing! Same here!
Yeah for me, I like to read and vote posts and the boost in USD value has allowed me to curate posts without worrying about the 0.02 threshold. Psychologically I think it does feel nicer being able to have a higher vote number. Haha.
Keep on trucking.
Keep on posting.
Keep on growing.
Keep on compounding.
That’s the type of stuff I still dream of. Sadly I also have to consider that anybody at anytime could counter me with a downvote trail and I will be back down to handing out $0.
