So maybe I'm wrong about this but I seem to be seeing a little problem with this system (and others). Being fairly new to the ecosystem and trying to build almost from 0, It seems like there is a huge hurdle for beginners. Particularly for those in developing countries. Don't get me wrong I love the potential for Hive to open doors of potential for those who have lived in financial distress for generations. However my experience so far has been that starting from scratch means that for most it can take a long time to build up a head of steam and really get the income side of things working.
I'm learning as I go and thanks to many of you I'm starting to get a handle on specific steps. I also have the advantage of a secure place to live, some income and the help of a family member who is also learning to Hive (she fronted me some Hive once we figured out how to use other crypto and get it into the system).
For literally billions of people this advantage simply doesn't exist and it is the long slow slog just to build up enough voting power to actually start earning some return on their effort. As I say I may be dead wrong about this and my nearly fossilized brain is just slow on the uptake. The more I read of other peoples work here the easier things become but it has been a lot of work just finding the information.
I would like to think that there is a solution available and that there are others who seek to 'level the playing field'. Thoughts and comments (preferably positive ones) are gratefully appreciated. Maybe there is a project idea lurking in this.
Wishing all the very best.
Blessed BE.....and GO HIVE, what a wonderful world we can build.
Hello @cowboyphylosophy. This platform is overwhelming for new users and I can tell by experience. It's gets better each day if you show up. First of all you need to have a strong mindset of BUILDing things before you even start your journey here. All great things take time to build. Please consider this as a business and slowly build your brands. I would suggest you to start joining communities that interest you and start interacting with the people who are regularly creating content. You can ask a lot of questions in comments get your answers quickly rather than wondering about how to solve your problems.
I will give you a few pointers to get you started:
Check this amazing guide made for newbies like us: https://thehiveguide.com/ It has video tutorials which are easy to grab and you can watch them while you are taking a dump or having your morning coffee. :D
@leomarkettalk - Best place to interact with some of the coolest people on the platform. You can ask any question related to LEO & HIVE and I am sure many folks would love to help you.
To understand the technical mumbo jumbo of the platform in byte sized format, check this: https://developers.hive.io/glossary/#glossary-chain-basics
Hope it helps! And while you do all that, make sure to have fun. That's more important good sir. I sincerely wish you get your way around the platform. I will say it again - It gets better. :))

Thanks for the feedback and the tips will be very useful I'm sure.
From your comment I get the feeling that I sounded as if I am complaining about my own journey here and just want to assure that that was not my intent at all. I actually enjoy the challenge of figuring things out and have the luxury of some time and resources (minimal as they may be) to pursue the challenge.
My hope was to suggest that this could be a real problem for so many and that I think the community could possibly rally to develop a project that would make the process easier for those with less to actually get up and running. Limited access to the internet and computers is a real issue in developing nation.
I'm really stoked about the upcoming advancements Elon Musk is making possible with his global internet access project. My guess is that someone like yourself or even me could be the first link in a 'six degrees of separation' that could connect with Elon and perhaps initiate a project to escalate access across the globe. That would be huge for recruitment/retention to Hive and all it has to offer.
I see a whole world of potential here and am excited to be privileged to participate. My thanks again.
Blessed Be.
Yeeeaahhhh, I'm not quite as excited about Elon Musk's Starlink as I originally was. When I first started reading about it, the articles stated the cost would cost about $7 per month. I signed up to be one of their beta testers when it came available in my area. I recently received an email that it should be available to me in June or July. But the cost is $99 per month plus $500 for the satellite dish. If I had Hughesnet it would definitely be worth that. But my current Rise Broadband connection is adequate, costs less per month and didn't require that I buy the dish.
Thank you for the links, Finguru. Will definitely take a look at those!
Getting around on Hive and learning it can at times be pretty hard. I still have a hard time, but I use Hive as a social media type place. There are so many new things coming to hive and on hive that it is very hard to keep up even for people like myself approaching 3 years, (I started out on Steem).
There is culture and a society level building going on and like the applications being built and like in the real world there will be and are some clashes.
My advice for new users, choose the 50/50 option for reward power up. Don't power down for at least a year, after all Hive was not helping financially so leave that 50% auto powered up Hive alone and let it grow. If they joined for the income ability use that 50% that does not get auto powered up, so they still generate themselves a little income, but at the same time generate a savings account that will end up paying them more in time as their vote power increases.
I don't think there is any way to level the playing field on Hive, Hive does a pretty good job of mirroring a lot of walking life society and culture, there are people all around the world and from all kinds of societies and all kinds of culture. Societal and cultural ideas not easy things to overcome but many are overcoming and building new Societal and Cultural ideas on Hive
Oh and by the way welcome to Hive, after a bit it becomes a pretty fun place to be.
For me it has been fun from the start...I enjoy challenge.
