Wouldn’t that be counterproductive to speeding up the length of the games being played which they are succeeding at for the most part?

I dont think offense is what makes a more interesting game. Personally, I love a 2-1 or 3-2 pitchers duel.
I think many would agree with you. I prefer offense but not blowouts S I want it to be competitive in any sport.
Games in Colorado do not excite me. Pinball baseball of 10-9 is of no interest. Once in a while it is okay everyday it gets old.

Wasn't he a good commentator?
He was ok, but business is business and the folks over at ESPN have been bleeding the last few years and have been letting go a lot of their popular or at least steady personalities. ESPN is not the same ESPN @taskmaster4450le and I grew up watching that's for sure.
The curious thing Jimmy is that about ESPN, it's not just there, there was also a period of employee cuts here.
You're right, the station isn't what it used to be.
It is happening in the broadcast world.
It's a path of no return. Traditional TV as we know it before will no longer have its monopoly.
We need shorts going so we can accumulate some time on Leo.
No ESPN went into the toilet.
What gets overlooked is the breakup of the monopoly they have on #sports conversation. There was talk radio which is still around. But not only did they have FoxSports enter but also some YouTube and others who pulled eyeballs.
I know they struck a deal but think of what McAfee did in pulling attention. There are others who are garnering hours per day of viewing.

A while ago here in Brazil, ESPN was firing some journalists.
Perhaps we are seeing more signs that traditional broadcasters are losing audiences to streaming channels and YouTubers.
They are losing their asses. It is hard for them to compete. We are going to keep the fragmentation going.
Shorts will aid in that. Each minute watched will by a minute pulled from elsewhere.
I also agree, but I'm worried about sending too many shorts and being considered a spammer. LOL
We urgently need an exclusive feed for shorts.

It is usually a slow recovery which means that people do not rush right back.
This is much better than it was 40 years ago.
An example is Pelé, the greatest player in the history of football. I imagine what these players would be like with the structure and money that exists today. And I'm referring to any sport.
