Storm Damage Again

When you own a property the spend never ends and you must always expect things to happen. This is my Durban house again where a branch from my neighbors property fell down on Friday night and damaged the boundary wall. This is on a small section of the wall at the bottom of the property and is only about 3 meters in length and does not affect the other 90 m of electric fencing. Having a corner property means you have far bigger boundary walls than most other properties.

I don't think there is too much damage besides the electric fence which looks a little buckled. I am currently away right now so I will have to report this to the insurance company when I return in 7 days time. This is not what I wanted to see or to deal with whilst I am away as the insurance company is hard enough to get hold off when in the country.

Even the small amount of damage will most likely be more than the excess as these days nothing is a quick fix and just the call out fees are nearly matching the excess fees cost.

This may as well have been far more damage because the excess fees remain the same no matter how small or big the damage is. This is obviously a security problem for the house and this has to be fixed immediately which will happen tomorrow and will then submit the invoice to the insurance company. Most companies who deal with this are affiliated and we will use a company who have done insurance work in the past.

I need to off load this property as soon as possible, but have a 92 year old aunt as a free tenant so she cannot just be kicked out. Truthfully I never expected her to live this long and she has kind of screwed up my plans. I do tease her on this subject in a good way and we will just have to be patient lol. She was moving out into a care home, but she would rather stay where she is for as long as she can and understand the need to hold onto independence.

If she moves out next year to a home then I will sell it as quickly as I can and move the money into Dollars or GBP. The extra costs incurred are minimal for now as the property is already fully paid off and bond free. Storm damage is always a worry however as insurance never covers the real cost of repairs so only having minor damage is a lucky escape.

Dang, that sucks! That's why we cut down the one big tree that used to be so close to our house!

Problem is I do not see this house very often and it was probably 7 years ago now.

if I had a redo, I would not build next to any trees. We've had so many accidents here with the rains and assassin tree branches.

You are really true, even a small or big damages it still cost big. Nothing is cheap this time.besides you need to fix everything.

Falling trees are a concern in Seattle area as well during wind storms.

Even without falling trees I will have to replace the roof on the house this year as insurance company refused to insure it as shingles are over fifteen years old.

Yes insurance companies want to see maintenance taking place. We had a similar problem with a leaking roof and it was the roof screw washers that needed replacing.

It's good there are no much damage

Oh no! It might be a small damage but you need to spend for the repair though. But be thankful enough that it's just minimal still God is good :)

That is huge concern that needs to be deal with

The falling trees is one of the hard things to clean up

It is very destructive just by looking at the pictures
