This message regarding load shedding came through my community WhatsApp group this morning and had to message my kids on what to do. It is crazy I am away from all this load shedding nonsense, but it still affects my life in an around about way.
Yesterday they had similar times except the later time was at 8pm and the solar system is basically on battery from 6pm due to sun set. They made it through with 29% to spare and I do not trust these schedules so I told them to switch over to mains today at 4.30pm. If the schedule changes or the power is not restored at least they will have 100% battery to cope which is about 6 hours worth of power.
I think it is seeing these types of messages that just gives you negative vibes on how poorly the country is being run. This is summer time and here we are having power cuts for 30% or 8 hours in a 24 hour day. Yes we have solar so we are the fortunate few but we still have to manage our power resources according to the power cut schedules. We are not fully off the grid yet and will be working on improving our situation as soon as I get back on Tuesday.
I do not like the wording stating until further notice which means it will continue into the week and could be on going for a lengthy period of time. This is how they break the bad news by not giving you the complete picture and slowly let it sink in once you realise you are already a week into this schedule. Last time they stated 2 days and this was not the case this time. You could say we are so blasé about this now living with lies and false hoods this is kind of normal.
This camp cooking life style wears pretty thin after a month or two and there are only so many ways you can barbecue food. In the beginning it was great family time and we played games like cards by candle light, but that is ok for an hour or two ,but a 4 hour or 8 hour stretch you want your life back. Appliances get wrecked with the constant on off throughout the day and are conveniently not covered by insurance companies any more. We rent most of our stuff now as it is far cheaper long term as most appliances seem to break after the 24 month mark.
If this load shedding continues this year like it did in the past which it has every chance of doing then I can see the middle class moving onto solar nd ten the electricity supplier is permanently screwed as there revenue will be non existent as the 25% pay for the other 75% and only have themselves to blame. The problem with this scenario is the government will find or create a new tax so we will still pay for this some how.

I don't know how you resist in these conditions. Not even during communism was this bad in my country. There were 2 hours each day, from 6pm to 6pm and that was all. I suppose chances for the energy situation to get better in your country are slim to none.
It's good to have a solar system energy it is just the first time cost of setting it. And as you've said, if the masses switch, government will switch too.
Sorry for the inconveniences.
Such a simple solution to fix this would be:

Every time I see stuff like this, I am so thankful we haven't gotten there yet, but that doesn't mean we won't one day. Life gives out too many other real things that you need to juggle without having to deal daily with the on and off of electrical power. Sounds awful!
This has really been messing with my schedule!
