Get rewarded to write about movies and television with CineTV and CINE

This week, a new community, CineTv, launched in the Hive blockchain.

Described as “the hive ecosystem's very own film and TV project”, it’s a place where fans of movies and television can get rewarded for writing about, well, film and tv.

$CINE, the group’s token, was recently airdropped to BRO and LEO token holders, at 149% and 1% respectively. Thus, Leo users, received 1 $CINE token, for every 100 LEOs they have staked.

It’s hard to tell how the $CINE token will trend, but according to the latest stats, 241,000 or 57.55% of the total 420,000 circulating supply are currently staked.

From an audience perspective, a tribe built around film and tv has a lot of potential. After all, movies and tv shows are topics that appeal to a wide group of audiences. Using movie jargon, it’s a “four-quadrant” niche that everyone—male and female, and young and old—can appreciate.

There’s no need to be an authority to participate, either. I’m pretty sure we all have opinions about the content that we watch.

Whether that’s how much you loved the first season of Game of Thrones, but hated its final season. Or whether you find Robert Downey, Jr.’s role in Tropic Thunder funny or offensive. There’s a lot to say about the films and tv shows that we watch.

Interestingly, instead of the usual 7-day reward window, CineTV is experimenting with a 5-day reward window. Not sure whether this is better or worse. On one hand, the shorter window means less time to get upvotes. But on the other hand, hardly anyone votes on posts after five days. At least rewards can be released sooner?

Finally, a look at the group’s frontend show that most posts are currently about old favorites. Even my own movie review is about a favorite from twenty years ago.

I’m not surprised. Most theaters are still close and a lot of moviegoers are hesitant to venture out because of CoVid-19. So, except for the latest streaming content, there aren’t a lot of new movies to talk about.

I don’t mind. With everything going on around us, it’s hard not to get nostalgic about happier times.

Regardless, I’m very excited about this community. As a self-confessed fan of film and tv, this looks like a tribe where I can really enjoy myself.

How about you, will you be writing about your favorite films and tv shows, too?
