Brave rolled out a new desktop release, version 1.39, to the Brave browser earlier in the week. This release adds support for the Solana blockchain & integration to with BAT and the Brave Wallet, the ability to purchase SOL in the Brave Wallet, and improvements to security.
Solana in the Brave Wallet
Release 1.39 brings our first set of features within this integration, allowing Brave users to send, receive, and store Solana and Solana tokens (SPL) in the Brave wallet. Brave also announced Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) can be bridged to the network as an SPL token.
SOL can now be purchased in the Brave Wallet through the use of Ramp, a DeFi protocol that built on the Solana blockchain. Ramp currently supports fiat to crypto purchases for EVM-compatible chains like Avalanche, Celo, Polygon, and Binance Chain. The Ramp integration also supports the ability to purchase BAT on Solana and Polygon.
NFT Purchasing Coming Soon
Brave will soon introduce integrations for Magic Eden, the largest NFT-based Web3 ecosystem on Solana. This will allow users of the Brave Wallet to buy, sell, and view their NFTs on the platform. This will also introduce the ability to buy and sell NFTs with BAT on the Solana blockckchain.
And more...
