Today I Powered Up 1000 Hive
Staking your hive tokens as hive power means putting a time lock on your money, you are unable even if you wanted to sell those tokens without waiting 13 weeks to get them all back, however, the shortest amount of time you will have to wait is 1 week to get a portion back 1 thirteenth to be exact.
Why would you do this - I need access to my fund all the time
This is a good question and I wanted to explore the pros and cons and why I like this setup. To lock up your tokens like this does have a trade-off that you need to consider, the main one is that you are signalling to the community that you are here for the long haul, you want to participate and you have belief in the project.
It is said that you need to view a person's actions and not just what he says, this is true for Hive as it is for most things in life, so other hive members can see that you are contributing to the overall good of the chain and not just speculating to make a fast profit.
Have you heard of Compounding Interest?
This is often referred to as one of the wonders of the world, If you don't like or are not interested in the financial world take heed of this one concept, you will get paid interest on the paid interest and like a snowball rolling down a hill, starts small but after a short time it gets bigger and bigger. Use your stake as the snowball vote on posts, and you will earn curation rewards. Write your own posts and you will earn author rewards. Power Up those rewards and watch your snowball get bigger. Rinse and Repeat.
What am I doing?
For the last 18 months, I have been Powering Up some Hive every day and recently I have been Powering Up 1K Hive on #hpud day. How long can this continue, I don't know but I do know that I will keep going for as long as I can. I like watching my snowball get bigger and bigger. Go ahead and help me help you, How you might wonder, well I have been a new Hive Witness for under two months. All you need to do is send a witness vote everyone has 30, this will show your support for a decentralised blockchain.
