I recall one ordering a set of baseball cards as a kid. It took 6 weeks for delivery.
Hell, you can send a body around the world these days in a few days.
6 weeks?!!! Was that pony express? I can say that cuz you know....
LOL not far from it.
I think vehicles probably ran on lead then. I know our tables had corners and were not child proofed.
And we're still alive to talk about it.
Amazing!
Mail order is alive and well. It may have evolved with the advent of direct mail and the Internet, but it's still alive and kicking.
For sure! It's just that people expect to get what they order yesterday, instead of patiently waiting for it to arrive. UPS ground still takes 6-7 working days to many part of the USA...
I remember those days. I guess it was fun on some level to wait for stuff you ordered by mail. People went to stores more often if what they needed was there instead of ordering it by mail. I remember stores having layaway too. Having your stuff held there while you paid a little each week or month. One way to not go into debt because you couldn't get your stuff till it was paid for. Oh and the Christmas savings clubs that the banks had. I remember those too. I'm old. LOL
