I would say that the fork is a witness decision not necessarily a community one as opinions vary amongst the community 😉 had the initial decision to soft fork included the community then I would say it has been a community wide evolution but do to the fact we were excluded this fork has the appearance of another power play same as Justin’s using the “community” talk 🤔
I remain sceptical of both sides of this equation.
I think we need to understand how witnesses work better. Do witnesses as for community opinion before stopping an impending attack? No. Time and time again in my stay of this blockchain the witnesses have secured the blockchain from external attacks and our opinion haven't been sorted.
Witnesses are voted for to take actions on our behalf, we might not agree with individual witness, I certainly didn't, but the top 20 are those with the most number of votes. We might not agree with their actions but as long as the majority wins the vote they act accordingly. Members have the right not to vote for a witness, but at the end of the day, the top 20 witness are those who most members of the community have voted for to act on their behalf in securing the blockchain.
The argument that we were not contacting before doing the softfork does not hold water, as already mentioned, they are there acting on our behalf, we may not like it but that is how it works.
Based on JS actions now, it is totally clear that the witnesses acted in our best interest.
We are transiting to Hive, it is better whatever actions we take, we should have an open mind. Cheers mate.
Talking appearances here not facts
Facts - I called the soft fork without being inside circle and supported it, I further support this fork...
What I am raising concerns for is the language of “we” as I like many others do not appreciate being spoken for while ignored.
Absolutely. I had recognized that steem is organized similar to a ponzi scheme; the platform gains value based on future investors (users, witnesses, investors, etc).
This power struggle appears that it has more to do with securing profits than it does about securing a 'community'.
That is the center around the dynamic yes, question remains if content qualifies as adding value or not in terms of investing 😅
Securing our futures includes theirs but it is human nature to fight blindly for the things we believe in so we can at least assume majority have good intentions even if selfish.
