RE: Tips On Leaving More Comments (Engagement)

in LeoFinance4 years ago

I agree with the comments on posts thing especially. I always reply to comments and upvote them for their comments. It just makes sense. If they're going to take the time to read my work and spend even more time commenting on it, I feel it's only fair to reciprocate. None of us make anything if we're in an echo chamber. My last post about "My worst day" had 30 some comments with 30 some replies. I'm not trying to brag, I'm just saying that seriously, this should be a no-brainer. Thank the people that are giving you their time and upvotes and give them some time and upvotes in return. If there's a lot of comments, then only give 20% or 10% votes back but at least reward them for rewarding you.

Obviously not everyone has tons of time to be on here, but with the linear voting you have 7 full days to respond before the post gets paid out so there's plenty of time. Just my take...

You bring up a lot of good points. There should be a minimal level of conduct. It is basically what becomes acceptable to people. If many promote the idea of commenting, then that becomes the norm.

If we ignore it, that we will see the same behavior.

It does take some time which means there is a commitment level required. However, it isnt as if people need to spend hours doing it.

It takes a lot of work pushing that new norm into place though, so I really hope we'll see another wave of encouraged & motivated people joining #initiative10.

  • Be the change you want to see or whatever.

That is true. A new "normal" comes from pushing, consistency, and being an example.

If some of the more established accounts do this, newer people will likely follow.

We tend to be copy machines, modeling behavior we see.

Which is why engagement should have been a priority from the start. I'm glad there seems to be a lot of users caring enough about engagement that they are willing to move mountains now.

This is the mindset I'd love to see from everyone. I can't stand authors who seems to completely ignore their audience. They usually come out as nothing but money-grabbers to me.
