Dash launched as Xcoin in January of 2014. Very soon (days, weeks?) it was rebranded to Darkcoin, whose first feature was privacy. It was only later that Darkcoin rebranded to Dash and focused on being a general-purpose digital cash for the masses.
But privacy is the first major feature, before even instant transactions or masternodes.
Thanks for the explanation. I knew that Dash had been around for years, but I wasn't aware of its origins I need to do more research on Dash to learn more about it.
Was Dash always meant to be a privacy coin, or did it evolve into one by having privacy functionality added? As they say, "I'm asking for a friend."
