Tonight, in the heart of Europe, we witnessed truly horrifying scenes. No it was not a simple clash between hooligan fans, to which we in Europe are, despite ourselves, accustomed. Tonight we witnessed something different, we witnessed selective violence, we witnessed a real hunt for the Jew. The news still needs to be constructed in detail, but we remain rather disconcerted. The Dutch police struggled, for hours, to regroup to defend the innocent people on the run. The riotous masses of extremists, however, appear to have been much better organised, to the point of chasing Israeli fans right into their hotels. All this in what was Anne Frank's house. All this, in the heart of our Europe.
