RE: Troy Ounces, what is it?

I normally like measurement systems. I dance back and forth between the US system and metric. I even explain to people the differences between US units and British Imperial. Going into Japanese traditional units is also no problem.

But... Troy ounces. I just don't get. It'd be so much easier just to switch to grams...
