Reliance the renowned multibillion Indian origin multinational conglomerate has partnered with Polygon Network.
Its launching a crypto coin named as Jio Coin on polygon block chain network.
The launch is not officially confirmed by Reliance or Jio but its already available on 'Jio Sphere' a web browser curated specially for Indian customers.
The JioCoin is under beta testing for now and the JioSphere allows you to sign in with your account and it shows a wallet for JioCoins. JioCoins can be accumulated by engaging with JioSphere. JioSphere a web browser is available to download for all platforms. I myself tried it on windows on my laptop and on android on my phone.
Its really exciting to have a crypto coin as part of Jio ecosystem as it immediately enables so many use cases for users to buy/spend/exchange these coins being part of the daily activity under Jio ecosystem.
Jio launched in December 2015 has emerged as one of biggest userbase of mobile/internet/ott users in just a few years. It was launched as a Telecommunication network, but it has expended itself into other services as well. Jio TV, Jio Music, Jio Cloud, Jio News, Jio Games, Jio Chat are few examples of services Jio has expanding into. Other than this Ajio is a apparel brand, Jio Mart is an online shopping site deals specially in grocery items, Jio Finance is a new age institution provides full stack financial solutions, Jio finance has also partnered with BlackRock for a join venture. With all these services and platforms, Jio has immense potential for making the JioCoin a real use case for all of its services and products.
Also this is Reliance and Jio's debut on web3 platform marking a new milestone for both the company and India's journey on crypto and blockchain space.
JioCoin suppose to bring a lot of energy in Indian crypto space and it will surely inspire other players to join the race making India more educated/aware and adaptive of crypto ecosystem.
Being the first Indian company to launch VoLTE in India Jio surprised the Indian telecom sector and become largest Telecome operator in a few months time. It has explored and ventured into many other services making the ecosystem more viable and inclusive. A crypto coin in such a time is absolutely a master stroke by Reliance and it should give Jio the buzz and edge over others as it created during launch of 'Reliance Jio Infocom'.
Imagine using JioCoins for your mobile recharge, Wi-Fi recharge, OTT/News/Music/Movie subscription plans, shopping on JioMart or AJIO with JioCoins. The end user use cases and daily activity of users on Reliance/Jio ecosystem has a huge potential for a crypto currency to become absolute popular in no time.
Moreover JioFinance being in the finance domain will explore on many other use cases of a crypto coin. We might see financial products around cryptos and particularly JioCoin.
