Amazon questioned over health and safety policies as tornado strikes warehouse

Due to a tornado occurence on friday night US, Illinois, an amazon warehouse collapsed and was reduced to rubbles. The roof of the warehouse collapsed immediately the tornado hit the warehouse leaving a lot of workers trapped inside and ultimately claiming the lives of six workers. It was a terrible occurrence which we hope never repeats itself. One of the survivors reported that it felt like a train was passing through the warehouse when the tornado struck.

The heavy storm tore through six states in the US wreaking havoc as it went by causing nearly a hundred deaths and destroying both businesses and properties alike.

A relative (mother) of one of the victims was able to speak to her son 'Clayton Cope' before the tornado struck the warehouse. She reported that she had brought the approaching tornado to his notice and asked that he sought shelter. However, Clayton, being a former Navy insisted that he'd have to inform his co-workers first.

Due to this, questions are being raised as to whether the company doesn't pay much attention to the health of her workers. Were there adequate shelters?, Should workers even have continued with their shifts despite a tornado warning? Even if there were adequate shelters, were workers ushered there immediately?

It still remains a fact that amazon doesn't employ most of its workers directly, instead they make use of subcontractors therefore the issue of whether or not these workers should have been called to work that friday could be side stepped. However, amazon CEO has expressed his condolences over the loss of his workers life and donated a sum of $1 million to aid relief supplies.

Lets not forget to utter some words of prayer for those who lost their lives.
