#historyonleo #onthisday On February 19th 1913 Mexican general Victoriano Huerta deposes President Francisco Madero in coup. In order to give his coup cover of constitutionality, he talks Madero into formally resigning and having next in line, foreign secretary Pedro Lascuráin, take office. Lascurain appoints Huerta as interior minister, and next in line of succession, and resigns after 45 minutes, thus making Huerta president. Lascurain retired from politics and died in 1952 as the president with shortest term in office in history.
