RE: Lightning Network Limitations

Sweet gig if you can swing it.

But you're really shooting yourself in the foot with this all-or-nothing attitude.
The optimal solution is always going to be measured risks and hedges.
To quote my example in the OP: if Amazon steals my $5000 it's not a big deal.
In fact by the time they've stolen it I may have already earned/saved more than $5000 using this strategy.

But then you seem to go completely off the rails and say you're never going to use LN or DEX.
Why is that?
If you run the LN node nobody can steal from you; that's the entire point.
A DEX isn't going to steal your money either, and if they did the window of opportunity and total amount is tiny.

I must admit that your on-chain transaction history is quite impressive.
I thought I'd easily find evidence of bullshitting.
That doesn't seem to be the case.

Sort:

As I've stated before, I have had everything I owned stolen more than once. I'm stupid enough that I kept requiring that lesson to be taught to me before I learned it. While some things look good on paper, IRL maths don't actually model all the possibilities, and amongst them is rampant corruption. Corrupt courts, financial institutions, all levels of government from local to international, are masterfully coordinated by venal thieves that enable incredible achievements of larceny I was unable to imagine before experiencing them.

What I undertake is what I have found to be necessary to preserve my capital. Nothing short of my goodwill network is capable of withstanding the enormous pressure of fraud and corruption that exists. It is still possible that I underestimate that capacity to steal.

Keep that in mind while managing your capital.

Keep that in mind while managing your capital.

That's exactly why I'm asking these questions.

Questions that you didn't answer.
Like why wouldn't you use LN or a DEX?
These are non-custodial solutions.

But you are, in fact, using a DEX right now.

The DEX you are using is called Hive.
Your balance is non-zero.
This doesn't align with the stated philosophy.

First, I misspoke. I won't use a CEX, because KYC. I don't see how Hive is a DEX, except for Hive and HE tokens. Regardless, I don't use Hive as money.

I don't trust LN or the internet as vectors for transactions or as storage for valuable assets.
