Yikes!

Clearly I've been slacking hard recently during these trying times. I've been out of the loop on several bits of drama and haven't been keeping up on current events or the blog posts. These things happen. My hyper-focus has been directed elsewhere for the time being. These things happen. Did I already say that? These things happen.

I must be going through one of those classic depressive episodes. Although if someone asked me if I was depressed I'd probably say no. That seems to be a theme. Then again actions speak louder than words and my ability to kill time knows no limits! I'll crawl out of this weirdly shaped hole sooner or later.

So what's up with me?

I was gonna write a post a while back about getting eyeglasses. I got them a few months back. I've actually never gotten my eyes checked before which was a weird realization having to do it for the first time so late in life. Turns out my eyesight is actually still pretty decent so maybe that explains the delay. These glasses have a very light prescription and are basically just fancy reading glasses with a really good blue blocker coating. I can now once again read extremely fine print without having to go cross-eyed.

At first I was pretty worried that they were kind of a sizeable waste of money because they took a minute to get used to. For a while I was thinking they'd just sit on my desk as a paperweight due to how dizzy they made me and also completely blurred my periphery vision. They are reading glasses after all. Having to take them on and off as I ADHD around the house was pretty annoying but it's fine now.

I will say that these glasses have been pretty awesome in the long term. My eyes are no longer strained like they were before. The blue-blocker coating cost $140 which basically doubled the price of the eyewear but totally worth it as that was the entire point. Blue light really messes me up apparently.

Hm what else...

Getting new glasses wasn't exactly a full post worth of material which I why I never wrote about it until now. Hm... I bought some Hive a couple hours ago. Realized that it's actually ever so slightly below my buy target of 250 sats. Wish I could do more but alas only 4000 shekels.

Alts are looking very bottomed out right now but my target was to wait for mid April and we are still a week away from that. I could see Bitcoin tapping $72k no problem, but we are getting so close to my target I have to admit that Sunday fuckery could have easily been the bottom. Then again as I write these words we are slowly descending back down so maybe I eat them words... well not really because the target is mid April but you get the idea. April and September are often very good months to buy if you can find an opening. Of course nobody wants to hear that because...

What else?

Ah well I've been absolutely obsessively playing a couple of video games. Usually I'd write a post about the games I was playing just because it's easy to write about the hyperfocus but my post payouts reflect that my readers do not approve of such nonsense. So I'll just list some titles: Last Epoch (a game I bought an weirdly never played). Unraveled 2 (pretty cool casual co-op platformer). Dungeon Keeper (an objectively terrible nostalgic game that I played back in straight up middle-school in the 90s). I might actually do a post on Unraveled 2 one of these days because it's not a game I thought I'd like but it's pretty great for what it is. Oh yeah I also bought Cult of the Lamb but my role on that one is as a +1 support for when my girlfriend plays it. Weird mix of cutesy + death-cult that one.

What else what else?

Hmmmmmmmmmm well the whole tariff still seems to be going full strength. I've got a SNL episode behind me telling me that "tariff stands for terrific!" Fun little controlled demolition we got here and Bitcoin is still higher than when Trump took office... so that's interesting. If I'm being honest I'd be a lot more worried if I owed stocks... as crypto always bounces back immediately when oversold but stonks can take years to get back to business. Certain level of irony seeing Tesla being down 42% year to date but also still up 28% over the last 12 months. Money isn't real, fam!

But what if bear market?

I mean considering BTC bear markets only last 12 months we've already made it for the first 3 if so! Silver lining amirite? I highly doubt that's a thing though considering the situation we find ourselves in. Pretty hard for number to crater when it's already pretty low and everyone braces for impact. More likely this tariff nonsense breaks something major in the economy and they have to turn the money printer on harder and faster than they ever have before (seems to be a theme that every time from here on out is the biggest liquidity event only to be surpassed by the next).

If they value of everything is being diluted then where do you put your money? From this perspective Bitcoin is just as good as any other option... unless you want to go full prep mode and buy a greenhouse and a farm with guns and ammo. How many people actually have that option though? Less than 1% of the population for sure... and thus far that's a strategy that has never worked.

Conclusion

Am I back?
Yes I totally back!
I think I said that last time though.
For realzies this time though.
These things happen.

Sort:

Glad to hear you got the blues blockers and are back!
I’m certainly glad to not be in the stonks, though if it goes even deeper crater mode, maybe I’ll just have a stonky nibble in the down lows and do that diversified dance. My guns and greenhouses are stocked up, so why not some magic paper on the red line green line roller coaster.
Do you ever listen to bob loukas? He just put out a new vid, I always find his calm methodical approach refreshing amidst the hysteria whirlwind. He lays out a case for several scenarios for how btc could play out in this one.
I don’t really trade much, so I’m more in his hodl camp (less stress)
But I do have some dry powder, unlike that meme, and it’s always so tricky to hold back the fomo, though lately I’m more looking at how low hive is… I’m comfy with my btc position for this cycle.
lol, bought a decent chunk of hive at 37 cents, thinking I was a smarty pants…. 🤦‍♂️
I just need to keep reminding myself that I’m just a Butt 🤓

Yeah I remember a lot of people were FOMOing hard on Hive after the triple pump to 60 cents... I was like eek this probably isn't going to end well but meh. Unfortunately shorting was not an option because the trade was way too crowded. I guess I'll need actual unlocked coins if I want to sell into a triple pump.

For me it was on the way back down not up. At the time I was was pretty sure we would hold above 30 cents… and we had just held in the 45-50 cent range for a bit. Thought I was buying the dip, but needed to hold out for the dip of the dips dip dip.

I am glad that you made the step to get appropriate eyewear.
It really helps in ceasing the degradation going on.

There is really a difficult quandary about people who have gotten into crypto already.
Like, we haven't even seen real adoption yet.
Those who have a mere bit of crypto today will be wealthy.

Like, sure, bitcoin went to $100k, soon it will be $1m. And then what?
Then things become priced in bitcoin.
(because all the fiat dollars won't buy one, no one will sell for those bank digits.)

What will you do with the rest of your life if you do not have to work for money anymore?

I believe we are heading for super, duper, low crypto prices. And it may last for minutes, or it may be a complete change as the dollar/stocks/bonds crash, and Trump comes up with a "gold-backed" new dollar.

( I have tried to think through the ramifications for crytpo, and have just failed.)

Do plan to get some land, and a house and a greenhouse. Eating food you grew yourself is like the bestest.

And, real estate will really go down through this year. Like, WAY down. Pick yourself up some of that.

I am resisting getting my eyes checked as I need reading glasses too. Cross eyed reading is not easy. My sight has always been so BADASS but this is messing with my head a bit now being deficient at 46. I just need to schedule an appointment at America's Best and bite the bullet and get it done.

I just grabbed a bunch of Hive as well noticing the .194 hbd level. Also been converting hbd to sats since this level is not going to last long given the psychosis in the world now.

Yeah I delayed my visit quite a bit as well but it was totally worth it.
Now that my eyes have zero strain viewing screens I've found that my vision is quite a bit better at other tasks even when I'm not wearing them (like night driving).

Hope all is well muh dude... I know us dudes tend to carry burdens in silence. I know I do it.

Anyways.

Glad to see you posting again.

I'll share a funny story with you about glasses. For the longest time I would say. Don't need em, I'm good. Then, one day, my brother buys me a pair. Him and I are working on a guitar and I'm prepping the surface for finishing.

He says to me.

"Is this ready?"

I look at the surface. Looks pristine. It's a flamed maple top, if its got a scratch the stain will show it, and it will look like crap. So I take a good look.

I say "looks perfect"

He pulls out a pair of 2.50 reading glasses from god knows where.

And now? - he asks.

and I'm like "oh fark... its terrible"

Been wearing glasses since...

With that said I'm 45, so its to be expected.

Yeah I've been told to get my eyes checked a dozen times over the years so when I go in there for the first time and the doctor tells me hm pretty good I was a bit surprised... although I have poor ability to focus on anything closer than 12 inches so the reading glasses are pretty perfect for that.

Been wearing glasses since...

Y a partir de ahí comenzaste a decir... Huy! ...oootro muuundooo!!

de repente todo se hizo 4k

jajajaj

re-WB!

"...unless you want to go full prep mode and buy a greenhouse and a farm with guns and ammo."

Prep mode? That's just normal. I am actually working on an aquaponics greenhouse for a dear friend, and that's only the beginning, I think. The workshop, and then the lab, are next.

I also am frustrated with reading glasses that I now need to read fine print, especially when RTFM'ing on a ladder with some piece of equipment that could eviscerate me and laugh while it spat out the pieces. It also is bothersome when I realize I'm walking around with them on, and estimating everything past arm's length, or when after reading Toynbee straight through I need bandaids on the bridge of my nose and on both earlobes. But hey, it's better than not reading!

Thanks!

TLDR; These things happen, money isn't real.
Glad the glasses are working for you!

Oh my gosh, I am literally going through the exact same thing right now with glasses. Haven't needed them for 45 plus years and now bam, here I am. Only for on the computer, but I understand the dizziness completely, and the constantly playing with them.bits like a very expensive fidget!

yeah it's weird

but these expensive blue-blocker coatings are totally worth it
before now I've been using $15 non-script ones which worked for a while but these ones are killer

I have cheaters for on my phone at night. The blue definitely helps at work. Mine are progressive too so when I look down the magnifying small print l, but straight ahead they clear up my monitor.

good luck and keep winning

It is quite tough when the glasses is not the right fit for the eyes

Oh man, now I'm thinking about getting my eyes checked too. Been watching to much damn screens. I literally get headaches from screens sometimes. Maybe I should try those blockers

Holding anything but bitcoin with all the stuff going on seems the most logical option. Fiat looks like it could collapse any time.

Good to have you back. I think my eyes needs checking too cos them be glued to the screen all day. Talk of buying the dip, hahah that picture of buying the deep and then the answer of with what got me rolling cos that’s literally me. 🤣🤣🤣
Everyone singing to buy the deep and me asking with what?
