I find people training with a punching bag sort of funny. Am sure @cryptoandcoffee will be amused by this. While I have no business with that sort of training, whenever I do come across it, am rather amused by it. The reason is simple, it is as a result of the seriousness that people put into punching a bag that doesn't hit back.
You sometimes see some people use all their strength to hit the back in some rather odd show of strength. I totally understand the principle behind it, and there are many beenfits to it, but my perception doesn't quite change because if that punching bag starts to fight back, it becomes an entirely different issue. When it starts to move and throw back punches of its own similar to combat sports, then we have a much fairer assessment of our progress.
Far too often people plan life with the punching bag approach rather than the combat approach and end up rather surprised by their opponents strength. This happens all the time in virtually all areas of our lives. People plan and dream based on their own actions and abilities, but rarely take external resistance into account.
My point is that we shouldn't underestimate the resistance that comes with trying to make changes or get better at something. It should keep us humbl, competitive and alert. Don't ever be surprised the enemy fights back, rather be prepared for an all out battle.
Yes and for some reason plenty of people buy them which is very good for me.
